  1. I would go with the 42". You might want to shoot Doghouse a PM. He has one on a trailor that he is about to sell for a good price and he lives just east of Atlanta.
  2. When useing wide gap hooks I tex-pose. When I use straight shank or regular offset round bend I leave it buried.
  3. I often think what I would have done if I wasn't armed. They would have had to get by a 7'6" Heavy Flippin stick with a 1/2oz jig and a yellow paddle in order to get close to my boat but I am glad it didn't come to that.
  4. I had to pull my gun out a couple of years ago. I don't usually carry it but this time I did. I was out on Clarks Hill in my little boat and two guys in a larger Jon boat came around the point several hundred yards away. I thought they would go around me considering the opposite bank was over a mile away but instead they headed straight at me and stopped right where I was casting. They asked me how the fishing was and I said it was fine until they parked right where the fish were. The hair on the back of my neck was standing on end by now and they slowly motored closer to me. I was blessed with good hearing and I heard one whisper to the other "Does he have anything? It was at that moment I reached in my bag and pulled out my 9mm and placed it on my deck where they could see it. They instantly motored up and continued on their way. I have no doubt that they wanted to rob me. I know now why I grabbed my gun before I went fishing that day.
  5. I can't believe these haven't been said yet. Tom and Jerry Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote Micky and Pluto Rocky and Bullwinkle Chester and Tweety
  6. I use Tru-tungsten all the time. They are great. You can't beat the feel of tungsten. They have a new weight out for C-Rigs called the Finesse Carolina Weights. They are outstanding.
  7. Right on!!!!! Go get em you nuckleheads.
  8. The dorsal fins.
  9. You can check out his website. www.mattlures.com He makes several different types.
  10. The Mattlures Bluegill is worth every penny. I bought my first one over a year ago and they are amazing.
  11. Tom, I will tell you the reason that there were so many dead fish. FLW uses Rejuvenade as a water treatment. Rejuvenade has things in it known to irritate bass and causes stress. I can't believe they are still using this stuff. They have killed a bunch of fish in the past and are under investigation in one state for a unusually high post tournament death rate in a tournament last year. I have seen first hand what Rejuvenade does to a bass. It causes them to jump around in the livewell and injure themselves. It also causes limited blood flow to the gills due to the stress. At the end of a tournament last year I was able to compare the condition of fish that were kept three different ways. (Rejuvenade, Please-Release-Me, and recalculated water) The fish that had the Please-Release-Me did great. They were calm and had no injuries. The ones with recalculated water weren't doing that bad either. They had a few injuries that we treated but they were fine. The ones with Rejuvenade were a whole different story. The first thing I noticed was how hyper they were. Then I saw the injuries. Almost all of them had them. But the most disturbing thing was the line of white at the ends of the gills. This is caused by limited blood flow and it means that they can't get optimum oxygen. I wish that there were some way we could get FLW to stop using that stuff. You should report this to your State Fisheries Biologist.
  12. I don't understand why you guys are haveing lost fish issues. I have been fishing with Spot Removers for more than two years now and I have boated hundreds of fish on them. I can't think of one time where the fish came off during the fight. I guess I'm that much better than you.
  13. Try taking the back treble off and replacing the front one with a #1 round bend treble. It will become more snag free and still hang on to the fish. I have been doing it for over a year now and it comes through the flooded timber very well. It still gets snagged from time to time but not nearly as bad as it does with two hooks.
  14. I have mine on my topwater rod. If I make a cast and the fish start to blow up somewhere else I want to be able to get the lure back in fast so I can hit the blow up. I have one on my Rat-L-Trap rod in the late summer for when the fish what it as fast you I can reel. I have one on my pitching stick so I can get it back in a fast as I can. With or without a fish on it.
  15. I lived on Oahu for three years and the lake you will be fishing for peacock was only three miles from my house so I know you will have a ball. Don't expect any real big ones though. If you are looking for good saltwater fishing it's not far away. Deep water starts only 1/2 mile from shore and there is some great fishing out there. I used to go down to the strip in Honolulu and get a guide there. But now days you need to book ahead. I went out with almost every one of those guys and they were all good. They were almost always on the fish. But you can't get away from fishing for Tuna, Marlin, Mahi Mahi, and Skipjacks without having a bad time. The guys that do the inshore stuff could be called the trash of charter fishing. So be careful when picking one of them. I can't give you one specific deep water charter service to go out with because they are all great guys. Just get the one that you can afford.
  16. Lets do some math. Tru-Turn Hitchhicker, Plus a Zoom Fluke Plus a Gammy Finesse Hook Equals a Banjo Minnow Minus giving a company that is known to sell all your personal information to anybody who will pay for it.
  17. Fly, I got your humor. I am almost as cheep as they come. I can afford a Loomis but I have never bought one. I have one Shimano, but it is one of the old green ones. I also have one Abu, one Pflueger and several Diawas. I use $33 All-Star Rods and a few more that I built myself. I do see your point and it's a good one for our members who are new to bass fishing. You don't need to by the most expensive or most popular equipment to catch the biggest bass. I wish you could see Randall's Rod a Reel collection. It is comprised of old rods with electrical tape on the butts to hold the balance weights. They are equipped with reels that are so old that all the paint has been worn off and it is down to the plastic body. They still work and as we all know they still catch the biggest bass. I have much respect for my friend Randall for what he has achieved with the low cost equipment that he has.
  18. Right on. Great job and super bird. Now you're in trouble. That is the most addicting sport there is.
  19. Just click on this link and ReelMech will help you out. http://www.rod-crafting.com/articles/clean-cork.html
  20. Now that's what I'm talkin about. Congrats man. I am happy for ya.
  21. Those jigs look great. Just a word of advise though. Be very careful with those stand-up jig heads. They look too much like the Spot Remover Pro Model and I believe that is a patented design.
  22. Always. I need all the help I can get.
  23. The Trout Magnet I was introduced to this little lure about 8 years ago by the owner and inventer of the lure. I was very skeptical when he tried to sell them to me. So he gave me a couple of packs to try out. I took them fishing and just slayed them. I now use them every time I go out.
