1 All-Around or More...
I agree. Just picked up this rod and love it. Fishing plastics on the spinning version has been awesome. Going to try out the drop shot on this rod on Saturday. It will be interesting to see how my spinnerbaits work on it however. If not than I will go back to my other rod for that. But for plastics.....I'm having a great time right now.

whats the REAL size of this bass?
No way that fish is 20 inches either. No way.....Maybe 16 and thats pushing it IMO. I would say about 2lbs as well. lol I think he is well on his way of being a classic fisherman though telling people stories like that. What makes it worse though is that he is showing the picture of it. At least if your going to fib a little, don't flash around pictures like that.

small, value based manufacturers
Finally received my order from 152streetbaits. The toads look great! The monster finesse worms are just crazy cool as well. Not sure how the heck I'm going to rig these big boys. Props to Richard for throwing in almost 10 extra toads (all different colors) and two extra monster worms for not being able to ship out my order right away. I would recommend him and his company even if they are not sponsors here. Can't wait to try out those toadsters.

Finally got to try out my new Avid
Amen to that. I could feel all sorts of stuff that I never felt before. When I was fishing my cheap mitchel I pretty much had to rely on see the line take off. I expect my success to sky rocket next spring with the smallies in the rapids. Being able to feel that structure is going to be great.

Zebco telescoping rod. Info wanted.
Zebcos lol.....haven't used any of there products since I was a kid. The spincasts always tangled up on me. Hated it.

Finally got to try out my new Avid
That may be the issue than. I was setting the hook pretty hard and I remember one small fish that I brought in had a big hole in his jaw where the hook was. Stretched him out pretty good. Probably thats how I lost that other fish. Rod tip was up high but I had a hard hookset and when I relaxed just a bit the hook probably just fell out of the gash in the jaw. Thanks for the tips guys.

Bass Fishing games for the PC
I really dislike Rapala pro fishing. The casting with my mouse is horrible. Maybe if I had a mouse without a ball it would help. I want a game that gives me more of a selection. Not just Rapala stuff. Plastics, spinnerbaits, and a crank selection would be nice.

Whoooo Hoooo !!!!! :-) :-) :-)
Amazing......... We have sturgeon up here in Erie but there very very rare. Muskie up in Chautaqua Lake though...... Definately giving me something to think about with that catch of yours. Just amazing.......

My son loves his trick sticks...another nice fish
He keeps this up he will be teaching me how to catch big bass. Your right though its a great time to teach him how to respect the fishery and things you should do to become a better person and fisherman in general.

palm tree/fat ika need help
I was having luck on a semi-slack line when the bait was dropping. Maybe that will help?

My son loves his trick sticks...another nice fish
Yep he really loves going squirrel hunting with his uncle using his BB gun. Has a blast.

My son loves his trick sticks...another nice fish
Yeah I posted a good amount of him. The funny thing is that he really doesn't focus while he is fishing. Has some wild movements with his rod. But he seems to always land the big fish. He has a great hookup/landing percentage as well. Crazy. Good little smallie angler as well. If he had his way though he would rather hunt. But either way.....being in the outdoors is better than being in front of that TV.

Help? Little ponds in the fall...
Trick Sticks (senko type bait) wacky rigged has killed them in my dads small 3 acre pond. Watermeleon with any color flakes has been the top producer. Fished the Fat Ika for the first time and was getting slammed about 20 foot offshore.

Can I get a BOOOOOYAH!
My wife would kill lol. Must make a good buck to be able to do that.

What are your favorite Spinnerbait trailers?
Agreed.

Finally got to try out my new Avid
Thanks RW that may have been what happened. When he was taking drag I stopped reeling. I think thats when I lost him shortly after.

Finally got to try out my new Avid
Been staring at it forever because I didn't want to break it in with my crap mitchel reel. So my Pflueger finally came in yesterday and I went out to my dads pond. Didn't catch anything of size but man what a difference there is from a crap Mitchell Outback combo and a Pflueger President with an Avid 6'8" Med x-fast action spinning rod. I was in love lol. Actually I'm going to have to adjust the way I fish plastics a bit because it feels so much different. Going to take some time to get used to that x-fast tip. Took me a bit to get the action I wanted on my plastics but I'll get there. It could have been that I had a bigger hook 4/0 Owner Wide Gap plus on my tiki stick. Usually I'm fishing just an offset 3/0 Gammy. Anyway...I'm babbling. I love my Avid and I can't beleive I was actually catching fish on that Mitchel rod from Walmart. Look forward to using my Avid in the spring for smallies. Should be fun. I did lose one nice fish. Didn't get a good look at him but he definately felt like a 20+ incher. Is there a tip with x-fast action rods as far as keeping lines tight or what not? I mean do I have to adjust the way I bring in a fish with that firm tip? IMO the line was tight and the fish was taking drag......then I felt that weightless feeling....gone. I was upset but what can you do. Using an owner wide gap hook fresh out of the package. Not sure what happened.

What's Working For You Right Now?
Threw some Ikas in my dads pond last night. I was only there for an hour if that. But I did get three smaller bass and had a nice one on but he got off. They were hammering the Fat Ika in Green pumpkin black flake though. I mean just slamming it. Felt good to feel hits like that again.

20% off Yamamoto Plastics as Dicks
Not sure how long it lasts but I picked up some Fat Ikas orignally 6.99 and got them for almost a buck and a half off after tax. Too bad I didn't need more of Garys baits. Anyway just so you guys know. Call around and see if your stores are running the sale.

My son loves his trick sticks...another nice fish
Caught this nice one on his second cast. What made me laugh was the fact that after a couple more casts he layed down on the bank of the pond and took a nap. Kind of like his work was done. I caught three fish in the hour but they were a lot smaller.....11, 9, and 13. But I did get to try out my new Avid and that thing is awesome. Caught all of mine on a green pumpkin/black flake Fat Ika. My first time trying the bait. Even though the fish were small they hit that sucker like a Mack Truck. Actually made me think they were bigger than they were when I hauled them in. Rigged them backwards and they hit it right on the fall. My son caught this big guy on a 5" * Slim Trick Stick Wacky Rigged in a Watermeleon Red Flake color. He loves the Trick Sticks and for good reason. They have produced some nice fish for an 8 year old. Hard to get some good shots because this sucker was still flopping on him even with his hand in the fishes mouth. He definately got not just a bass thumb but bass fingers lol. All cut up. But he was happy.

Ultralight
Berkley trout worms too. Good on brookies, blue gill, pumpkinseed, and even the LM bass love the chartruse colored ones. I agree on the rod length. I have a 5'6" length and feel that it's perfect for my situation.

One of those days...
Sorry but I laughed because I have had days comparable just not with fishing. Hope things are better the next time out. Better to laugh than flip out I always say.

Ah, the leaves are turnin.
Exactly. I'm sure it would work well fishing it like a fluke. They are very "flexible and lively". But that price point is a killer. I think I would have just as much confidence and success with my 2.50 pack of flukes lol. ;D

anything you enjoy as much as fishing or more
Beach Volleyball, Basketball, cooking or grilling, and I love to do landscaping. But probably my favorite thing to do besides fishing and is actually #1 is to serve my Lord Jesus Christ. I help out our youth pastor with a lot of activities in the Youth Group and serve in other areas of our church. Went down last summer to Lake Charles, LA for Convoy of Hope. Love the area down there and I really loved the welcoming of the Louisiana people for myself who is a New Yorker. Really felt the hurt and pain that Rita put on you guys down there. Went down to what is left of Cameron and just shed some tears. Anyway those are the things that I really enjoy.
