  1. welcome to the forum!!
  2. welcome to Bass Resources Alex.
  3. next weekend we have a tourney at the mel again and im hoping for a few smallies over 15". i never would have tossed baits of that size, thanks. ive also got Luhr Jensen Hot Lips on the short list to try, any feedback on these baits?
  4. store fishing is me taking whatever reel im planning on using on the rod im buying and going to the store and test casting a plastic plug around before i plop down my cash. ive done this at BPS and Cabelas. theyve not said anything about this..............yet. that is the berkley rod i store tested. i did not buy that rod but i will say it felt nice.
  5. thats how long it took me to pic a rod out last night. i was very impressed with my wife. 99.9% of the time she wants nothing to do with anything fishing other than boat rides but she went and picked out rods and brought them back for me to store fish. in the end it came down to 4 rods. Shimano Compre Berkley Shock rod (i know.....heh) Fenwick HMG (on sale no less) Falcon Lowrider the shocker is i loved the berkley rod. with my Sol mounted on the thing it felt like a million bucks and really send the rubber plug out there. the fenwick rod was my fav. out of the group but they didnt have a 6'6" rod in the action i wanted. i didnt store test the lowrider since i had past experience with the rod. the shimano rod surprised me as well. it was light and quick. a bit more heavy than i wanted but still manageable. in the end i took home the Shimano Compre. i fished from the bank this morning and the set-up sends 1/4 oz cranks flying so im good there. cant wait to actually catch a fish with it.....lol
  6. the black eyed peas is everything wrong with music.
  7. i would post a few pics of the wooden baits. theres some slick posters here that might help identify the brand and model. after that you could search ebay and put a value on the gear.
  8. for a first baitcaster id look at Abu 4600 C4's. they wont break the bank and will do most everything the high dollar LP reels will do.
  9. i agree. any gear you pay $35 for that lasts a season has done its job.
  10. RW, I know that is a great rod, but did you notice he said 1/8 oz? That rod is rated down to 1/4 oz, so I can't imagine it loading well with a lure half that weight. Esox, I don't think there's a definative answer to your question. Just last week I was testing two sets of light action spinning rods. Each length/power of rod was made in two different actions. For these particular rods I found the more moderate action normally cast a further distance, but on a couple, the faster action made for longer casts. its my opinion most rod ratings on the lighter end are ball park. mount a zebco 33 on a rod rated for 1/4 oz baits and ill bet that set up sends that bait a flying. mount up a high dollar baitcaster in the hands of a proficient angler and even though it might not the best way to toss a light bait it can be done.
  11. i have the E5 and im done with that gear. im changing it over to 6.2:1. thats just me though.

  16. right now im having a hard time hooking up in smaller lakes/ponds while finding the fish in the bigger lakes has been a simple task. every larger lake ive hit ive found the bait fish close to deep water and caught fish. bait fish plus structure and im on the fish. in the smaller lakes/ponds ive fished bait fish, flats, rip rap, beat the banks, everything short of dynamite. its really slow right now. anyone else seeing this?
  17. on a real slow day we guess fish weight and then toss them on the scale. whoever does the worst buys the beer.
  18. the lucky craft fat CB has a huge wobble. the bandit 100 series. the lucky craft G.D.S. mini dr doesnt have a square bill but it bounces off rocks great.
