  1. Or swim for ive been known to cut my line, tie it to a branch and after i was done fishing for the day go back, find my line, hop in the drink, and go get whats mine. ive also tied a weighted fish stringer on a rope and drug spots that have heavy bank fishing hoping to snag up line still tied to crank baits. this is the best way to keep my kids out of my crank bait bag. i assume most everyone does this.
  2. how do you feel about abu round reels? theres a buttload of them out there that run 5.3:1 that would make great crankers and the reels last a lifetime. a well working abu will toss 5/16 oz baits all day.
  3. you have to take every post with a grain of salt. some posters say Mojo rods are as good as Steez rods.
  4. nope. seen it right away. BTW.......i heard Muddy could cast a line with just an overhand knot tied on the end 45 yards..........lol
  5. to me tossing a #5 isnt impressive. reading Reel Mech, Tin, Raul, Jimzee, J Francho, the list goes on and on and on and on impresses me. you dont get to know what they know reading a web site. i am nothing more than a fly on the wall soaking in a few things and sharing what little i have and know.
  6. I just threw a DT4 on my gram scale, 9.22 grams. #5 shad rap is 5.15 grams, nearly half the weight. These weights are hooks and all. Thats quite a difference in weight. You are incredible, I wouldn't bother to try throwing a #5 shad rap on a baitcasting rig. The only gram measurement I'm familiar with is 3.5 grams, which is an 1/8th, or 7 grams which is a 1/4. Don't ask me the significance of that per rapala.com the dt-4 is about 8.8 grams and the #5 is 5.3 grams. 28.3 grams to an oz. but like you said.......lol

I use spinning gear, I lack in Bait casting skills for smaller stuff, no problem for me. It can be done Jeff, I am sure there are many here that can toss a #5 with BC equipment , I saw guys from here throw small finesse plastics with Bait Casting equipment. You would be amazed at what t an accomplished caster can throw with the right equipment thanks Dom. this debate isnt really worth all this bickering. a question was asked and the question was answered in the 3rd and 4th post. everything else is personal experience. tossing a #5 shad rap isnt that big of a deal. the problem comes when the bait "helicopters" in the air after the cast. im not sure but i dont think the gear you use affects that. have a good day, hug a kid, so on and so fourth..

  9. id look for round abu reels on ebay. for $45-$50 you should be able to find a very solid reel.
  10. nice fish.
  11. thats a sweet fish. the pic with it hangin on the scale is a nice touch.
  12. if the teeth can be pulled out without them breaking it wont be that bad. my daughter just had it done and she didnt even need the lortab she got afterwards. 8-) 8-) 8-)
  13. if youre referring to me im talking about my skills with my gear. and yes, im much better with a baitcaster when tossing #5 shad raps, its no different than tossing a DT-4. i have very good distance and drop the bait close to where i want it.
  14. youd chuckle at me a lot. i suck with a spinning reel. ive bought the good gear and i still couldnt hit the broad side of a barn. the Sols i have let me cast the light stuff....thank god.
  15. Uncle Leo is spot on. Falcon's generally aren't as fast or powerful versus other brands of the same power rating. I would go up at least one power rating. FYI....the Bucoo is said to be the Falcon Original blank packaged in a split grip format. i have all 3 series of rods and i agree with the Original not being as fast as others. it is IMO still a good entry level rod for lighter finesse plastics. my Lowrider is a M/M so its hard to compare speed. the Cara T7 seems to be plenty fast. ive only tossed 5/16 oz jigs on the rod but id say theres a good tip there. on the other hand, ive yet to use a really good heavy jig rod.......so...
  16. I don't understand how anyone could compare the loss of a human life to a bunch of dogs fighting. He paid his debt to society, now he's going back to work. His job just happens to be very public and high paying. I think with Tony Dungy being his mentor, Vick will be a good example to young people that you can change your thuggish ways and lead a good, more productive life (while still tearing it up on the football field). i dunno..............ive buried 2 of the best dogs i could ever imagine and it about killed me to do it. dogs may not be human but they feel pain just like you and i. to me vick might not belong in jail but after that i hope karma takes a huge bite out of his life. >
  17. theres so many rod threads its not funny. find a price range first of all. are you buying over the net or do you have dealers in your area? do you care about rod warranty? ill give my 3 standard answers first then go from there. Fenwick HMG Falcon Cara T7 Falcon Original
  18. and then some.
  19. I bet he puts a Japanese reel on it. As far as craftsmanship in reels.... Japan>everyone else. i think i need to find a JA. when that Pixy sold before i could scrape the $$$ together a lone tear rolled down my face.
  20. i still like this deal for entry set ups. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0066762124204a&navCount=0&podId=0066762&parentId=cat601359&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601359&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601359&hasJS=true
  21. could be real. the fish might have been close the the big lake in the sky and didnt try to get away. looked like a big carp to me.
  22. Absolutley NOT!!!!! ill let you in on a secret. just because you buy a gun doesnt mean youve planned a killing spree. lets not be childish.
