  1. not even hot daughters could get me to tune into another reality show. SOG was ruined by drama lines added for ratings IMO.
  2. a rod you should look at is the Falcon Lowrider LFC-5-17 XG MH/MF. a 7 foot rod that is "made" for deep cranks which tells me its a good all around rod. its a rod that goes on every trip i go on.
  3. PERFECT! now go wear the thing out.
  4. not trying to steer you away from the live target baits, i love them in the spring, but id buy the bandit 100 and 200 series cranks and some sharp hooks.
  5. nice. i talked with a few kids who won a tourney on TR and they did it dragging a jig. food for thought..
  6. i winterize my boat by backing it an extra few feet in the garage.
  7. i think the water needs to drop another 10 degrees or so before the big fall bite starts. the best luck ive had lately is fishing the wind with hard baits.
  8. we signed up to do the trip. then we read all the print, including the small stuff. trip canceled.
  9. doubled at Melvern right off the bat. more large mouth than the smallies but still caught fish. caught a buttload of walleye and white bass along the way.
  10. i am a Daiwa guy and i think the Revo STX is a great reel. IMO its as good as any reel in its price range.
  11. Lucky Craft Gerald Swindle GDS Mini DR my fav. bait at Melvern. between that and a green pumpkin tube, thats what we use all year.
  12. id rather fish in my bath tub than go to La Cygne. we fished there last Sunday and got skunked. catch of the day right here:
  13. i have that in my favs for a "im doing that some day". it might translate to what you want to do. i bought a set of foam grips and i like them ok. i dont care for cork because when they get shiny they get slick. thats just me though..
  14. i was loading my boat on an electric only lake and took one mis-step and ended up in the drink when the water was mid 50's and the air temp wasnt much higher. it sucked the air right out of me. i was lucky i was able to stand up and walk out. ive heard of guys climbing up on their outboards and trimming the motor up to climb aboard. id do it in a heart beat if i had too.
  15. thats why we go to Melvern. were going down Sunday morning.
  16. fished the wind at kill creek today. bunch of small fish and this. ive seen it all now... i would show you a nice crappie on a spook but all i get is: Internal Server Error
  17. a HUGE THANK YOU for doing so. i assume zebra mussels will get into all the waters sooner or later but id rather have it be much later.
  18. im not a fan of fiberglass. too many problems that goes along with the material over an extended timeline. vinyl will warp. the myth is that it will never stop warping. typically once vinyl finds its happy spot, its there for life. its also the reason why pros will not paint vinyl, it adds to the warping. the latest vinyl windows have venting frames, which cut down on trapped heat, which is the leading cause of warping. vinyl surrounds holding glass in front entry doors............i bet there is at least one poster who reads this and says: "Hey, my vinyl surround is warped and cracked to hell". maybe more. there is a lot more who think: "Mine looks fine". the second are the posters who have better vinyl or a more current design. im sure there are posters who have had a different experience, what ive out lined is "in general". the pic is the leading reason i dislike fiberglass, and i see this a lot.
  19. i think its one of the best rods for the $$$. and, .. .. theyre even better with a Daiwa reel strapped on them.
  20. funny how one fish fixes everything. im going kill creek tomorrow if the wind is right. late afternoon start.
  21. how was Milford? Cedar was slow until about 10:00 the the bite picked up.
