I would describe the DTs as having a moderate wiggle. They definately don't have a wide wiggle but it's not too tight either. The actions get a little tighter with each deeper model. The Dt Flats have a tight wiggle like most flat cranks do.

If there is a good shallow cranking bite, don't count Clunn out. He and Casey Ashley are my 2 picks.

The Pointer is just like any other lure, you have to fish it when the situation calls for it. You can't just throw it out any time and expect to catch bass. Try fishing it in the same time of year that you have had success with X-Raps, then you can make a fair decision if you like them or not.

I think that a member on here had a Live Pointer break while they were fishing it and they replaced it for free if what I remember is right. I'm not sure who it was though.

Jigs and custom crankbaits.

My first post.. Lastly The uglystick is temporary, what will be a good rod to pair this up with? As far as rods go, Im leaning towards either the new Shimano Cumara Cast Rod 7'2" Med Hvy http://www.***.com/descpageRDCSHIMANO-SCMCR.html Good choice.

Like M and M said, practice with your favorite lures. Crankbaits, topwaters, and Texas rigged plastics would all be a good start. Just make sure they are not too light because you are just starting. I would start out the VBS at 3 brakes on and 3 off to start with. Once you are able to cast well with those settings you can turn more brakes off which will give you better distance, or just keep those settings if you want to. As far as the rod goes, I would pair it with a 6'6"-7'0" M or MH rod depending on what you plan to use most on it. If you want to use it more for lures with treble hooks I would go with the M, and if you want to use more jigs and heavier Texas rigs go with the MH. The brand would depend on how much you want to spend on the rod.

Pointers. It's hard to beat a Ghost Minnow Pointer 78 for clear water.

I haven't tried any Live Pointers because a lot of people say they have durability issues with the wire connecting the segments. I stick with the regular Pointers. The search isn't working on my computer, but just try searching "Pointer X Rap" and a lot of jerkbait threads come up.

I've done a lot better with a Pointer than an X-Rap. Fishing them in the exact same situations the Pointer has caught more. Try a search on this topic, it's been discussed several times.

He fishes Quantums. They don't exactly have the best reputation for duribility or performance. But if I were payed to use a certain brand of reel, I probably would use them also.

Vanish is about as bad as it gets for a flouro line. For an easy casting flourocarbon, I would try Seaguar InvizX. It casts amost like a monofilament.

I went to a local tackle shop today intending to get a new crankbait rod. But while I was there, I got an offer for a deal on a rod that I could not refuse. I ended up getting a brand new G Loomis GLX MBR783 casting rod for $255. I can't wait to see how it fishes. 8-)

Stick with mono unless you have a really soft cranking rod (even then I wouldn't use it).
