What's your favorite peice of fishing equipment?
Cabelas adanced angler tackle binder 3700 size. Takes up the space of one 3700 series box and holds all of my plastics. I've saved a s##tload of space in my tackle bag with this thing. Hey robert, I saw those pliers and said "hey, I like that combo, I should get one" then I see that they retail on the abel site for $500 dollars, ebay for about $300. Cops can't afford that stuff, we have to buy things like, oh I don't know, bullet proof vests.

Thanks Zel
Earlier I posted a request for any help on an upcoming club tournament I was planning. You sent a ton of useful information to me, now I'll be able to act like I know what I'm doing. That sort of stuff is the reason why this forum is top-notch. Thanks man, you're awesome. JK

If I had a nickel.........
Great rods, I agree. I own four, got them on sale. I can't tell from the posts if I've offended, if so then I apologize. It was intended more as a joke.

Broken hand
so I thought I'd be able to get in some fall fishing in the next few days. Not so much, I have "boxers fracture" in my right hand. Bummer.

sad...
That's a serious bummer man. Sorry. Hey jfowl, Struggle is part of life sure, but struggle at the hands of another without repercussion is an injustice. Ultimately don't we all want a life without struggle? I don't think having anything of mine stolen has ever made me a better person.

Apologies to KUbassmaster.
As an MU fan, (now that you've stopped reading) I have to say that KU has put a team on the field that makes me nervous. Imagine if Chase Daniel was throwing the ball around for them.

If I had a nickel.........
for every time RW told somebody to buy an avid, then I'd have a lot of nickels. I just read 5 posts and and he was spreading the good word in 4 of them. You should collect royalties for all the sales you get them man.

Good Light Action rod
Hey Big T, you might want to look up the number for the BPS store in myrtle beach and then call ahead. If they don't have the rod in stock they can order it in-store and hold it pending your arrival maybe, it should set you back about $120. I just bought two avids last week at BPS and that's what they ran me a piece.

Look at some these beauties that are for sale
So what's the deal redline? Did you buy them or what? It's been about 11 hours since you posted some new $15,000 fishing gear purchase. You know you want to.

Fair comparisons? An Abu Garcia thread.
Like most on this forum, I have a lot of other things to pay for and buy what my budget affords. For me it's what is either well priced or on sale for good equipment at the time I'm looking to spend. The revo's I own, 2 sc's and an sx, are the best equipment I've bought overall not controlled by circumstance. A case could be made for the mass avid sale but, had they not re-designed the line I would'nt own 4 of them ( I did buy 2 for $90 a piece though, and that's a deal ). The revos are still regular-guy affordable even at retail. It's good stuff at a price the average joe can afford.

dual purpose diawa/kistler
Not necessarly only for light cover, but able to be used in light and medium cover situations. You said "owned," anything you didn't like about the rod? "The L&T is definitely too short for both, at least for me." I agree somewhat but I really like how the handle is contoured.

dual purpose diawa/kistler
I'm thinking about getting one of these for c-rigging and light cover jig pitching. What do you like of the two? I've handled but never thrown either brand. -> kistler graphite series 6'10 heavy/fast 1/4oz - 1oz lure wgt. 12# - 25# line wgt. -> diawa light and tough 6'6 medium heavy/fast 3/16oz - 1oz lure wgt. 10 - 17 line wgt. brokejw: you got me thinking after that post about the diawa L&T.

Shimano or Daiwa?
Nice, that was like a chronological look at bad ideas in reel making history. I have a diawa, a shimano, and recently handled the Okuma Aveon. Of the three, the Aveon has the least backplay and is an impressive offering. I bought one and would say that it's the better of my spinning reels. p.s. I'm in the revo camp as well, best reels I own hands down. They even sent me a decal for my boat on request - no charge.

Help with a tourney
I didn't think this would fit in tournament talk because I'm not really waxing on a specific tournament. Rather, I'm looking for advice from the club folks who have set tournaments up in the past. I've been asked to put one together for next spring for a sportmens club, and I just need some generalized advice on the odds and ends of what to do. I'm also hoping that this can thread so people can speak on what they'd like to see in a tournement. I have never done this before or fished in a tournament. Here's is what I know/have: non-affiliated club Largemouth only small private lake community, maybe 10-15 boats total will enter. 90 hp / 18' boat limit 2 to a boat unsure about how non-boaters will work (maybe a list of 1 person boaters to pair up with 1 person non's) official weigh-in 2 bigger sponsors (Okuma, Sufix) single day with weigh-in at early evening

No time like the present to start planning....
Man I'm jealous of you guys, I wish: 1. That I could go. 2. That I knew how to make my own rods.
-
All right guys, Compre vs. Premier
I use the premier glass rod in 7' medium / moderate-fast. I like it. RW's point about finding an avid on sale is an awesome idea though. If not, the premier glass is a good rod. It loads up well and will sling lipless cranks a long, long way. Since it's a bit heavier it can be tiresome fishing big cranks with it after a while though. I would'nt suggest using a round reel with it either. I had a round abu on mine and replaced it with a revo, that took a lot of work out of fishing a DT16 crank for example.

My summer dog days tow vehicle project (90% done)
I really don't know because I can't see very clearly with all of the tears in my eyes ..... and it only gets about 8 mpg, at least my Jeep gets 9 mpg. I had a full size dodge that averaged around 8MPG, I've since switched to a GMC canyon that gets anywhere from 18 to 22 with full synthetic. It's an awesome feeling knowing that I only need to fill up 3 times a month. I have a jeep as well that pulls in about 6. Now that's a guzzler.

braid comparison
I've not used the fireline either so I have nothing to offer there. I like, as well as a lot of others on the forum, the sufix braid. It's the best braid for the money IMO. modify- If you look a few posts down to the 'help on braid' post, some people cover the power pro vs. sufix argument.
