  1. A good thing about the Loc-R-Bar----in a lot full of boats, they will skip yours because of the bar. Not down here. Those are the ones they seem to target. Cut the glass on one end and they are in. Major damage to the boat and they get the tackle anyway. Hacksaws are murder on glass boats. Quite too.
  2. I would think twice about the lockr bar. The thieves at Rayburn and other lakes around here are famous for cutting your Fiberglas on one end and lifting it out. Does a tremendous amount of damage to your boat. I just mentioned it because it is happening around the area a lot. Just take the time to take your tackle out and leave the lids unlocked. They just go on buy the rig then.
  3. Bass love the warming days after winter breaks. If you get several sunny days in a row it is common to find them up in the 1-3 ft depths. The water was probably several degrees warmer then the rest of the lake so go take advantage of the days you have like that.
  4. White shore line indicates low water.
  5. Hide it well. We were fishing Toledo several years ago and a guy drug a huge tree out into the lake and dropped it on the river channel about 10:30 in the morning. As soon as he left seven bass boats ran over(I was one of them) and punched in the GPS position. Not a good idea on his timing.
  6. Orange lake in Florida 1977. 12.40 lbs 1 lb. shiner fished with a guide for three days, and caught it with about two hours to go on the last day.
  7. It's deep Has two underwater bars (Or rock wing dams) Many points Water is down (to winter pool possibly) Has current Other than that nothing.
  8. First, I do take the time to read the depth of activity; however, not bass. It is totally a guessing game as to what type of fish you are seeing, if in fact they are fish. what really interest me are the pods of baitfish and the level they are showing. If they are at 10-14 feet that is where I start my search.
  9. Well he came a little early. My daughter gave birth to her first. Both are doing well.
  10. My daughter called at 1:30 this morning, they were at the hospital in Dallas, she is having her first baby. Will be out of touch a few days. If anyone needs me or the deals we are working on need attention you can reach me on my cell 281 224-8853. Looks like I'm going to be able to fish next tournament next weekend after all. LOL
  11. You probably handled it a little better than I would have.
  12. Bama fans can't like anything about Tennessee, but 1,000-186 is impressive. Congratulations Pat.
  13. Yep, to shades of red and green. Didn't know it until I went for my military induction physical.
  14. Mike, I got all mine up and running yesterday. Let me know if I can help. Sorry for the hijack
  15. Your preference. Personally I fish a Minnkota hand steered. Got tired of all the broken cables with the foot controlled ones. You might find that you are not happy with the foot model. JMO, I will never own a foot controlled model again.
  16. you just have to get on them and check them out. Two lakes sitting on the same parallel only a few miles apart can be in completely different stages depending on the watershed they get their water from, the makeup of the lake(Shallow, river fed, depth, contours, etc.). The north end of the lakes and the northwest sides will usually warm first due to runoff and the amount of sunlight they receive. I would begin by fishing flats off the creek channels, creek or river mouths, or running to the backs of large, creek fed pockets and working my way out while looking for bait fish. Pay particular attention to deeper grass beds, first drops coming out of pockets, main lake points, and the edges of the feeder creeks. If it is sunny the bite should improve during the day as the water warms. Do not be afraid to run up and check out the 1-3 ft. depths. Warm days will make the fish cruise the shallows. I would be throwing spinner baits, lizards, senkos, traps, and crank baits.
  17. Nice, I guess we would all like a deal like that. We bought ours back in 2000 when the price was high and the interest rates were 5.65%. It would be a blood bath if we had to sell it now. Congratulations on the deal.
  18. Yep, I'm heading out to Conroe myself to see if I can join the ranks of the few that catch a 13+ LM. Fat chance I know. You can't catch em sitting on the couch though.
  19. txfisherman, you never called me to get the exact locations. Sent you a pm. I will be out of town next Monday through the next Sunday so you can reach me on my cell. 281 224-8853. Daughter is having a baby next Wednesday(C-sec) and I just happen to be trailering my Skeeter with me for the occasion. Naturally there is a tournament handy to jump on. Heck, she'll be in the hospital for a few days so I might as well fish during the day.
  20. Mike I tried to several times but she could always outrun me.
  21. My wife said they messed up her hair. She's pi#%!
  22. Bluebird days are always tougher on me. This time of year though the bite will improve through the day. No need for an early start. Fish will become more active as the sun warms the shallows. I would certainly have a trap tied on as well as a jig, SB, and lizard. Good luck
  23. Shorts, flipflops, and a tshirt here. LOL
  24. If man were smart he would just put everything owned in the wife's name to begin with. She's gonna end up with all of it anyway. Saves the hassle of having to pay in the courtroom.
