Swimbait weights
Think of it like a spinnerbait, sort of. If you want deep and fast use a heavy weight such as 3/8-1/2 oz. You can still run deep with a light weight but you would have to retrieve very slow. Those baits have thump and lift and will roll on faster retrieves if the weight is too small. That said 1/4 oz is about standard.1/8 works well too if fishing shallow around vegetation. If you can only get one size to start I'd say get 1/4 and expand from there depending on the depth, cover, and how well your particular bait runs in general.

Tru-life question
The bait is absolutely tiny.I cant see needing the hooks any bigger. Its a crappie lure : I can't justify a 20 dollar price tag except that the swimming action is truly exceptional.Bigger hooks might throw it of balance.

Does burning baits only apply to lipless cranks?
Smaller blades on the spinnerbait=easier burning.Larger blades lift more and can also cause the bait to roll if retrieved too fast.A single willow can be the fastest. Burning a spinnerbait can be done deep too.If you take a 3/4 to 1oz head with 2 small willows or one single then you can get the same effect.Crash it into things on the bottom and grind it over humps and ledges or deep wood. A chatterbait is another good option. Burning a worm or craw such as a paca craw or rage tail is not unheard of either.Certain buzzbaits are better for fast retrieves too.A buzzer burned past a certain spot over and over has been known p iss a few bass off. Good Luck 8-)

Fishing from a boat vs Shore
First things first use your depth finder to get an average depth then find the drop offs or any humps or ledges.Throw a carolina rig like its going out of style.A depth finder and a c-rig are like having a second set of eyes, you can learn a lot about whats down there and your options of lure choices will broaden from there.Lures such as cranks, spinnerbaits, texas rig, jigs, dropshot, all good on structure.

Tru-life swimbait problem
Yep, push it from the top is what I do.In fact the pin on my crappie swimbait was actually to loose so I bent it slightly to keep it in there tighter.

American florida Gator
They can be quite annoying, the young ones.I have had some very stupid ones that would go after a topwater over and over no matter where you cast and thus ruining an entire area.Even hooked them and let them go and they still don't learn. They are very fond of spooks, buzzbaits, and a nice tender bronzeye frog is their favorite. I didn't catch this one on purpose though. It came through a patch of scum and hammered my frog during low light first thing in the morning.I thought I had a real mama of a bass...at first :

Working jerkbaits: which hand do you use?
X3 have never been quite able to figure out why all bc are made with a right hand retrive.I can't even eat with my left hand much less work a bait properly.

Need hook size recommendation
The 7/0 owner is a great hook. I tend to use them on 12 inch worms though. Remember also though that the length of the shank affects the action of the bait too.A long shank like the owner takes a lot of the action out of it.I would normally use a katsu 5/0 offset and it is light wire, and great for a c-rig too. I may also get laughed out, but many times I just use a normal 3/0 ewg hook for them too. No the Ewg is not known for 100% perfect hook ups, but I don't have 20 rods rigged on board and I can fish a very large variety of baits with that hook without re-rigging. Go from a paca, brush hog,7 inchworm, beaver etc..

Re: CHECK THIS OUT!!! 42lb bag on jigging spoons
It's okay if the fish were dead. The little buck males do all the breeding anyways :

Buzzbait choices?
Booyah pond magic 1/8 buzz is a killer! The cavitron is a no brainer-the best on the market. I recently took my all white cavitron 3/8 and painted the blade white also.

Great band!
Truth be told at least this thread isn't about rap. I could listen to anything that is music and not put somebody down for liking it as long as it is actually music. :

Super Fluke question
Thers some good suggestions here but I'd have to say the number one key is to keep a good bit of slack in the line and vary between hard or soft twitches.Slack allows the bait to do what it is upposed to do It is also very critical to have the bait rigged straight. If you get a "twirling" effect like you described then something is wrong. Not only will you get massive line twist but the bait looks very unnatural when it does that. Some of the flukes may be slighly warped out of the package too.If they are like that then they are junk.Any bends in the bait will ruin it.

Pressured Bass = Big Baits
I have been doing the same thing with some success, mostly with plastics, spinnerbaits, and topwaters. In my belief however I think that upsizing can have its limitations such as clear water or spooky fish. They may have a better chance to tell whether it is a fake or not. You need something that looks and acts natural.Enter the swimbait.

Rapala DT-FAT 01
There was also a new color in it.I forget what the box said but it's like the pearl grey shiner but with an orange belly.Nice. The bait runs rather well and is extremely fat.I haven't had a good situation to use mine yet but it seems like a great lure. My only complaint is the goofy a-- sure set hooks on it.The front hook protrudes wayyy past the front of the bill just waiting to snag any piece of debris it possible can like those hooks always tend to do.It just looks like a gill hooking mortal wounding fish killer. :

Fish Arrow Flat Jack
x4 on that perch! That thing is enormous Pretty cool how no matter what off the wall lure somebody starts a post about that t-rig has a picture of one caught on it 8-)

Strike King customer service
Keep it and throw it, unless of course it is an un-tunable P.O.S. like many of the SK cranks. I had a series 1 that made a weird sound and caught fish like mad until I met the wrong brushpile which in turn ate it.

Fishing Bridge Pilings
I haven't fish a bridge in a very long time but when I was younger I used to use a single blade willow or colorado 1/2 oz spinnerbait.Cast past and around the pillings and bump into them then let it helicopter down. Whatever lure you use it is usually important to identify which side of the pillings the fish are holding on. Work it from many different angles. If there is strong sun or current from one direction that can make it easier.

Central Florida Bass Fishing on a COLD DAY! 2-3-09
Cool! At least you got some.I got skunked yesterday. ::)The wind was wicked evil and my 14ft jon and tm were no match. Supposed to be about 32-34 tomorrow in my neck of the swamp and hope the wind dies down.

BPS shipping prices are crazy!
Nothing to think about.Just boycott Bass Pro. When they start worrying a little more about their customers instead of putting copper in their greasy little fingers then I won't be shopping there anymore.

weight of tru-tungsten tru-life 4" swim baits?
From what I have seen when I used them the empty fast runs the same as the slow with two nuts in it.
