  1. I love it! The new honey chipotle SBR is simply amazing. If you havent't tried it you are missing out.
  2. Yep what he said, and it is also a good idea to use a 5/8 oz size.
  3. Trickworm with a small finishing nail in the rear. Flukes skip amazingly also. Buzzfrogs-I prefer the sizmic for subtlety
  4. The time to go was on monday afternoon during the falling barometer. The fish were exploding like pirhanas and were whacking anything on site. The bite tuesday sucked and we haven't even had one single drop of rain in my area.I spun around in circles in my jonboat for 5 hrs and caught only one.
  5. Don't even think of trying rage craws.
  6. Theres almost no limit to the ways you can work a bait of this type. I normally fish it just like a spook, except it is under water. Just mix it up....constantly 8-)
  7. One word: BEAUTIFUL!
  8. Try to use the search feature using bowfin as a topic and in the other fish species section only going back a year. I have seen several posts on them since I joined. Also try http://www.bowfinanglers.com/ Google "bowfin fishing" 8-)
  9. Soooo, the lure is in limbo??
  10. Red shad, junebug, blue fleck,black-blue,black,purple grape, black grape, blck neon,black-gold. Something darker, BUT have been doing well this year with green pumpkins that look just like the water :
  11. No such thing. What you never heard of a "sinko" before??
  12. Agreed! My pb was about the exact same size.It had approx. 21 girth. Have caught 7.5 lbers that were around 24 inches long. Besides the obvious fact that you need a scale, make sure you measure the fish girth.Use a flexible tape or cut a piece of fishing line and wrap around the fish at the fattest point.Measure the length with the mouth closed and the tail closed. Using the length and girth you can get an approx. weight of the fish within a couple ounces. Guaranteed that fish was over 9 or 10 lbs.Way to Go! 8-)
  13. Inserting a few slender worm rattles into the body of the frog never hurts. 8-)
  14. Actually the real problem I have is that I mostly fish small lakes and ponds.Recently some new guys have discovered some of these holes and have to my knowledge been taking out fish every single time they are there.I have heard reports from several residents that they are also taking more than the legal limits and keeping 6 and 8 lb girls.Ever since then me and anyone I fish with are having serious problems. I have contacted the dept.of wildlife to investigate. What else can I do? The problem now is that they have literally raped the water so badly that I doubt the game warden will ever catch them in the act. Many evil little plans have come to mind to deal with them, but I am not a teenager anymore LOL. It doesnt take long to trash a small couple acre lake by constantly taking the bass out and especially taking out the breeding stock. Some people just dont'even realize what the hell they are doing or plainly they just don't care. They will just go on to the next place and butt rape it too. Just venting here :-/ I think it really sucks that I USED to have a nice little place to go that is close to home,no gas usage.A place where I can try out new lures and techniques and also teach people how to fish and have the distinct possibility of catching something over 5lbs almost every time I am there. I don't want to seem like I am a total keeper hater.I just want people who fish small waters to be careful what they take out.The day will soon come when you sit there with your thumb up your a-- and wonder why the heck nothing is biting. If it's a stunted dink hole then by all means fire up the skillet and get your old lady to peel some taters.
  15. Nothing wrong with keeping a few. The people I absolutely detest are the ones that have no concept whatsoever of catch and release and would take a 5lb+home in a heartbeat.
  16. Yep,that really sucks.Happens to us all.First time I tried senkos, well lets just say the mortality rate was high :-/
  17. Good question! The spro looks sweet though. On a side note: The floating kicktail is a pretty gnarly lure. I have done okay with it.Never bought one, have just used my friends. With all the new advancements in swimbaits and wakebaits these days there are better options.
  18. It has trebles,so no,it is not like setting with a frog. Like any popper,or topwater hardbait for that matter, you usually have to wait about a full second then sweep sideways just like a crankbait. But it's better to be really attentive to your line and watch for it to go tight, or wait til you feel the fish. Many times they will hit it running and tighten the line right away.If they knock slack it in you better reel like a maniac. I was just using it this morning and missed two fish one which looked around 6 lbs. They both hit me coming staight on and I couldn't hook up in time > Had another one nail it while I turned around to see what the splashing sounds were behind me,needless to say I missed him too. They play us like we play them sometimes :-/ Working the bait: Typically I walk the dog tight and fast with it and throw in pauses. This bait works well for that.If I am fishing slow with long pauses like others described I normally use a different lure
  19. 6 months later he's PETE Or,a friend with no arms and no legs flying over a fence-Homer
  20. No dog! Let him be like his bad self! Go Daaaave,Go Daaave,it's ya birthday
  21. We should start a new sticky for frog posts : : : :-X
  22. More action, less action. What do you want? What do the bass want? Either way is fine.
