Gene, When I'm Flippin/pitchin... I call what happens during the hookset and immediately thereafter "Tippy Toeing" Cause I'm up on my tip toes trying to get the rod higher until I get the fish out of the junk. Shane, I helped Mike and Paul a little on this jig and mainly with testing, opinions, advice etc. on which hook and weed guard might work best overall. Paul studied out several different hooks and was looking for a great jig as well. It took us a few trys but this one is a WINNER all around IMO. I'll say again, hook ups are terrific and they stay buttoned up as good or better better than any I've used thus far. I think it's the point length and angle that makes it work so well. I also think it's important to know that when using heavier jigs like 1/2 or up, it might be better to keep good constant pressure on the fish if and when they surface and thrash. A heavy jig will loosen up more easily from the jaw during the shake if it's on a basically slack line. If a fish surfaces on me, I keep'em tight and moving my way as best I can. Actually I had a Standard Green Pumpkin skirt that has 4 to five strands of deep blood red in it... Didn't have any of Mike's skirts to fish. Now that has a different ring to it, Huh! Mike's Skirts A-Jay, I guess I could do the board thing like yourself if I needed to but here in the Texas heat, any fish would fry on it just at the touch. I don't even let the fish touch the boat deck if I can keep from it. It's downright miserable to tough out a full day of fishing this time of year but then I guess it's better than working at the office Big O www.ragetail.com

Had a chance to fish again so I DID By myself but the fish made me proud eating the jig like crazy... Both Football and Flippin/Pitchin got their attention and It was a fine day on the water. Caught about 45 fish total, most from pitchin scattered brush on channels and drops. Was using the new Siebert Outdoors Big O model jigs with a Falcon Lake Craw colored Lobster Trailer. I think CWB is looking for this jig and this color Looks pretty nice to me too Mike, the hook set is much easier due to the point design which make these jigs great for fluoro's and mono's too, braid WRECKS'EM. C rig and/or jig can be a choice for you. If the bottom isn't too soft and there's not too much heavy brush or timber, dragging a Football jig will wake'em up too. Big O www.ragetail.com

I will be releasing both of these latest models on the FISH this week too I've had a blast testing and helping tweak things a bit and I'll guarantee them to be the best jigs I've ever used. A-Jay, IMO the side to side sweep on the slow swim action makes the Eeliminator appear larger than it is and I think it's hard for the fish to resist that look. The overall square inches of profile mass closely resembles that of a jig n Craw trailer... but where the jig set up is compact and thick, the Eeliminator is slightly leaner, longer and with different action. Sometimes the fish want both but often I've seen where they're much more interested in the Eel. Tallent25 and Red Earth, I'll weigh a fish if I think it's pushing my best or if a person fishing with me catches a possible PB Dwight, Those pliers have jumped off of that seat many times... C Rigged Eeliminator stuck some more Fish and I ran OUT of'em AGAIN... Eeliminators, Not FISH You'd think I'd learn by now to double ck my Boat stock and make sure I had plenty but that's what I get when I get in a hurry It's OK... the fish will be in trouble next time because I'll have a pile of Eel's to feed'em if and when I go back there I rigged it on a 3/4oz easy C rig and used Green Pumpkin w/tail tipped in Chartreuse JJ's on a 5/0 Moaner Stroker Hook The fish were relatively deep again on a drop from 17 ft to 28. Couldn't tell how deep she was when she hit but I think she was in the 25 ft range because I had already pulled it off of the ledge and was at the end of a rocky slope that met the channel. I was surprised that she had no bladder problems but that could've been because it took a while to bring her up due to a few tree or brush obstructions. She swam away with a SMILE on her face... But not as big as MINE Looks like Fall is starting here in Texas and I'm glad of it! Big O www.ragetail.com

Also I agree that (excluding blind hog luck) our history or experience is ultimately responsible for consistant results! If we have trained ourselves to be proficient at analyzing and working through certain types of challenges, regardless of the challenge that is before us, our past training or abilities are ultimately responsible for our successful results. If the challlenge is more difficult than we expect, but we have the persistance to work it through it with whatever abilities and proficiency we've acheived from past experiences, in due time we'll be successful. Without our past training or understanding, we will be much less ept at completing such a challenge on a timely basis that we feel is acceptable. Also without such a new challenge, we can never aquire more knowledge and experience. That's Fishing! To simplify this long dissertation into a more understandable example...
