  1. X2 on what Roadwarrior said...OR... You could move to someplace (you pick) between Knoxville and Chatanooga TN along Tellico or Ft. Loudon Lake. Maryville, TN is nice, as are Tellico Village (great golfing if you like). You'd be within an hour of two of any freshwater fish you could want to catch, within a couple hours of Guntersville, and it's not too long to drive to the coast if ou want to do that. And it is CHEAP!
  2. The Hurt Locker is about Army EOD (Explosive Ordinance Division) guys dealng with IEDs in Iraq (i think iraq). It's supposed to be really really good and have a great soundtrack.
  3. The offensive backfield is the least of their worries. They need a few o-linemen, and to either bring along or acquire some receivers. Moss and (I love the guy but he's getting old) Randel El are TERRIBLE. They could also use a couple decent safeties, who know how to actually be safeties and not guided missiles. The guys they have right now are more like scuds.
  4. You either buy the hooks with the weight attached or rig it like you would rig a dropshot, except that it's a heavier weight and a big treble hook.
  5. 1. Easiest one, stop being an arse. See what you can do to help the family (chores, part time job, etc) 2. Quit dipping and smoking. Just quit. Strap a big boy set on and quit. It'll suck for a few days, but you'll get through it. If you're really only 15 it shouldn't be too hard. Exercise, water, and fresh air helps alot with this. 3. Read, not necessarily a bible, but educate yourself on the religion you choose to follow. 4. Get off the couch, out of the house, away from the tv/video games. At your age, it'll go fast. Practice some self control when eating. Take up a sport, be it basketball, football, tennis, whatever, and try to do it 3-4 times a week for at least an hour. Pick-up games are great. Ultimate frisbee and soccer were some of the most athletic sports i ever tried. Most of all, just do it. None of those things require anything more than determination to do it. Don'tmake excuses or give yourself "outs". make it happen. You are only responsible to you for what does or doesn't happen with this. Good luck
  6. It's this darn job and baby on the way...maybe this weekend...
  7. The iceon the Potomac seems to move in and out with the tide; there's alot of open water on the Potomac up here, but it's cold.
  8. Stay away from my Four Mile run
  9. OK, I'll take the tough one: Ham and egg on an english muffin, and a big a coffee. Don't overlook the eddy/push water on the upstream side of a major current obstruction (rock, log, etc.). Fish will sometimes sit in this push water, especially when agressively feeding.
  10. How else do you keep your "road beer" cold?
  11. Did you guys make it over there? It's looked like chocoalte milk all day.
  12. I carry 2: a M, XF spinning rod with a 2500 Sahara and 14 lb fireline on it every time out. It handles the bulk of what I do and has taken a beating. The other rod/reel varies depending on where I'm going and what I'm fishing for. It might be an UL, a H baitcaster, or a fly rod, just depends on the day. My tackle resides in a back pack. I can fish with it on and it'll hold the spare rod as long as there's not alot of overhanging trees/brush/powerlines/etc
  13. For the livers, get some panty hose andcut it into 1.5 inch or so squares. Put the liver in the middle of the square, fold up the corners and run your hook through that. It'll stay together. Or, leave the liver out for a few hours to toughen it up. Hopefully it'l save you some frustration.
  14. Thai, it doesnt matter how late you stay up, you'll never catch Santa. ;D
  15. Chicken or beef livers and/or nightcrawlers have always been my best bait for "eaters" (less than10 lbs). For the big girls, I like fresh bluegill (where legal) on a circle hook, or, fresh cut shad or carp filets if you can't use live bluegill. Since your lake has channels and bullheads, I'd go with the crawlers and/or livers. Find the deeper holes with some cover and let it sit. If the wind is blowing or there is current, set the bait upwind/current of these deeper areas.
  16. Try some jerkbaits over on that side, little deeper than the panfish.
  17. I had my m spinning outfit (for jerkbaits and some light jigs) and my 6 wt fly rod. Ended up using the flyrod more. The snow covers alot of things that snag the line.
  18. Isn't this how The_Natural got started? ;D
  19. If you guys hit 4 Mile let me know (especially Sunday) and I'll walk over and join, maybe show you around a little if needed. I tried it Sunday in the snow. Caught an ambitious bluegill on a big streamer, nothing else.
  20. Throw Seam Flies in there too as a good bass fly, kind of a walk the dog action. Big dumbell-eyed double bunny flies are also good for getting down after them, fished alot like a plastic worm. All: What if I tied latex tubing inside the EZ Body for some heft? Thoughts? I know the only way to know is to try it, but thoughts?
  21. Let me be very clear...I carry that 22 every day and have shot 10's of thousands of rounds through it. It gets a god cleaning after every session and preventive maintainence every year. I've had one misfire on a bad primer. Never had any other problems with it. Another point to bring up with this is, if you don't grip the gun firmly enough, you can affect how well the gun cycles. Not saying anyone has limp wrists, just posting another idea.
  22. So for everyone who couldn't read the original post, he's trying to keep it to $100 each for a rod and reel.
  23. My wife read me the article off of CNN (I think) Saturday night. My first thought was...this is a joke right?...and then she told me it was CNN and I immediately knew it had to be a joke.
  24. Flechero, have you worked with the EZ Body? DO you think one could tie it to imitate a senko?
  25. Not my thread, but I have a 5, 7 and 9 weights that I use for bass and use wooly buggers in larger sizes as well as clousers. Deer hair mice worked across the top of grass beds in the evening will get the heart rate up too. Have you (or anyone else) seen the Marini's Wounded Baitfish (anchovie, silverside, etc.) patterns? They're msde from EZ Body. I was looking for something that I could use similar to a senko.
