No, he meant it the way it was typed. If the fish lives deeper than the light can penetrate, then is will be lighter in coloration. I think of it as a sun tan. Shallow or clear water fish will get darker.

Today, I added a pink dot sticker to my black frog. The kind you use to price stuff at garage sale. It worked great, went 3 for 4 in about 40 minutes I had for lunch break. You no see 'em dot, you set 'em hook, cowboy! The dot held up for that time, but will probably need to be replaced soon.

I'm still wondering what you would be waiting for? If they're spitting it out, quickly, then you missed your opportunity. If they aren't, and you set the hook right away, then what's wrong with that? Either they have the frog in their mouth or they don't. It's not going to magically jump in their mouth while you wait. The longer you wait to set the hook, the less chances you have of of sticking the fish. If you don't see your frog anymore, set the hook.

Here's the part of that statement that gets lost in translation. Perhaps the "oil base" is simply used to carry the amino acid based scent. Liquids wash off, oils do not. This is why I would not dismiss a scent that uses fish or other oil.

I can't answer for anyone else, but since I have first responder training, I would be morally obligated to do something. Clearing his air passage would be the 1st obvious choice, as mentioned above.

For Conesus, it's simple. Start at the public launch, and go right. Fish in 8-12' deep, and keep moving. You'll find some.

Don't hook set with circle hooks. I experimented with them two years ago, and I simply could not do the reel down and gently pull the hook through. I even tried them in my classes with beginners. It didn't work out well at all. Use a Wide Gap Finesse hook or the Owner Wacky Hooks in 1/0 or 2/0. Then you can just pop them when they bite.

I'm using 10 and 12# Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon for my deep cranking.

You fished through the smaller, more aggressive fish with plastics, and put a change up in the zone with a crank. Welcome to "milking a spot."

Spinnerbaits, T-rigs, jigs, and any other somewhat weedless bait should work fine. I've only fished those ponds a few times, and what I found was not all that great - too many northerns, few bass. As far as the where goes for me, Conesus, Lake Ontario & bays, Honeoye, and Oneida have all been good to me this spring and early summer.

That's a scary notion. There was a recent loose outboard incident up here that killed one, and maimed another.

Those Curado bearings are more than well suited once properly oiled. Call Shimano, explain the issue, and see if you can get replacements. Saving that, I have had great results with Smooth Drags Abec 7 Ceramic Hybrids. I've been using them in two Sols and a Zillion for a couple months now.
