Best $500 Fishfinder
That's what I do when decide to fish "blind." I also like the routes feature for planning out a tournament run.

Does braid wear out?
Try zebra mussels growing on EVERYTHING, including even milfoil. That's fun. I swear, if I could turn zebes into braid cutting scissors for cheap, I'd be a millionaire.

Communicating with other boats in busy saltwater channel
Amazingly stupid. Sounded like more than 5 blasts of the horn. And where is LEO in this situation? I mean, literally tons of boats anchored in what I imagine is a shipping channel.

Broken Hitch Receiver Lock
That really stinks. Rich Z has been reporting good fishing up there as well.

Lens Color Help
My info is from an employee at Maui Jim. The mirror is for appearance only. The reduction in light is balanced with the tint, but it serves no practical functional purpose. Meaning a non mirror lens can and does perform as well as a mirrored lens. In the application of sunglasses, mirror is for appearance only.

Is a spincast reel still a legit option?
I have a 30 year old 33 Classic that I still use for guests that aren't skilled anglers.

Favorite water you've fished.
I could fish Port Bay, and the surrounding Lake Ontario area for the rest of my life. In fact, my first 20 years of fishing were spent there, since we had a cottage on the bay. Largemouth, pike, panfish in the bay, smallies, trout, salmon, and perch out in the lake.

Reel feet protectors
I've never seen anything offered separately, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I'm thinking a deeper dig on some JDM sites might yield such a product.

All star rods!! Please help
What they sell as All Star rods is not what they used to be. You'd be best to replace it with a modern rod. At that $100 price point there's a lot of competition, and that you means you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Multipurpose rod for A-rigs, deep divers, and heavy punching
Not at all, and in fact I have used it for all that. It sensitive enough to feel bites.

You can see what they look like right on the Humminbird site. https://www.humminbird.com/technology.aspx?id=19620

Best $500 Fishfinder
Somewhat misleading post, above. Humminbird Helix models are pre-loaded with base maps overlaying the GPS. The base maps are pretty detailed. You aren't required to buy a separate chip, but the chips add more detail. The Lakemaster chip gives you 1' depth lines and is around $120. Garmin Stryker series don't have any map overlay, unless you jump up to the $250 echoMAP line. So to say that one makes you pay, and the other doesn't isn't really true.

Anyone starting a "business" needs two things: a lawyer and an accountant. Both of these can answer your questions.
