  1. Check out burrito baits sold thru Mike Bucca. They are available in a 5” 6” size & a bit heavier than the Hudd 68 special rof 12. Made as a top jig hook style. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Bacca_Burrito_Swimbait/descpage-MBBUR.html
  2. Some of my fishing buddies called me hook'em.
  3. I’m already both so it’s a non decision.
  4. 1/4 measurement is close enough for most fish. I can & do interpolate by reading between the lines to get to the nearest 2 oz. If I must know the exact weight then I pull out my Becknal digital scale which weighs to the half ounce. I get your point but if you can only carry one scale & require a scale that doesn’t have battery issues or moisture issues the Boga is it.
  5. X2 If you buy the 15lb Boga it measure to the nearest 1/4 oz. They are extremely accurate & great for using while you unhook treble hooks & keeping you from getting hooked. They have no moisture issues.
  6. Do you have any evidence to substantiate your broad statement?
  7. The giant smallmouth that David Hayes caught has stood as the record for a long time but recent catches of trophy size smallies from many different states & locations suggest that the old record is more venerable than ever before. The top 25 smallies ever caught only include 6 fish over 10 lbs that's including the recently 10.15 smallie caught in Erie waters.
  8. The state of FL is open carry when fishing or fishing related traveling. No surprise he was armed but the likely hood of another being armed is just as great.
  9. You never said if your looking for a spinning rod or casting rod. Kistler makes a 7-0 & a 7-3 in Power 3 LMH casting & a 7-0 & 7-6 in Power 3 LMH spinning rods The KLX is on sale for $197 & the Helium. They are rated 3/16 to 5/8 but I can tell you from experience they will handle baits up to & including 1 oz. That was verified by Trey Kistler the owner. The top of the line Z Bone is on sale for $397.
  10. You answered your own question. Impact strength is very important when using no stretch line & it takes a minimum of 50lb braid to prevent break offs when you backlash.
  11. Megabass lowered the suggested retail price of the rod by $100 5-6 months after I purchased it at the higher price. I assumed that particular model was not selling well so they lowered the price to better align with the market place. It was the 7’-1” Black Jungle deep cranking, slow rolling model. That devalued my rod by $100 based on what I spent for it & reduced the potential resale accordingly.
  12. I hope your luck runs better than mine with Megabass. The one & only destroyer series rod I bought broke the first time I used it on a mild hookset with a jerk bait. They did replace it within two weeks under warranty. Six months after I bought it they dropped the retail price from $500 to $400 on the same model rod. That did not set to well with me I payed $500 to acquire it.
  13. I find the bigger the body of water the more wind direction affects the fishing. Ponds & small lakes not so much.
  14. You need to get a guide that knows the area. Lake Saint Clair, Lake Erie Ohio waters, PA or NY waters all have good smallie fishing. So does the Niagara river & Lake Ontario & the St Lawrence.
  15. You can't beat the great lakes system for quality smallies. The lake you mentioned may be a lot of fun as well. I never had a bad experience fishing Canadian Lakes. It was always a trip that required a lot of planning & research but has created great memories.
  16. It depends on what you call monster pike. If your talking about 10-20lb pike the lake your talking about might produce. There is a Lake Evans in Quebec that has a reputation for bigger pike. True fly in lakes that receive less pressure than drive to lakes provide the best shot at a trophy pike. Generally Ontario is not noted for monster pike like Quebec, or the western provinces like Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Alaska, Yukon or the Northwest Territories. I have fished Munroe lake, Scott lake, Great Bear lake, Great Slave, Lake Athabasca & Lac la Marte pursuing big pike. Initially we wanted to catch a true 20lber. After achieving that goal we wanted a 25lber & finally we set our sites on a true 30lber. It took me around 15 years & thousands of dollars to finally reach my new trophy of a lifetime.
  17. X2 plus it floats.
  18. KC played to win. Congrats.
  19. Just just take your weight into the post office or grocery store & ask them to weigh it on a certified scale. But I got to tell you that exercise weights do not necessarily weigh true to stated weight because there are no standards for accuracy except Olympic weight sets. Being off 3 ounces & 6 ounces is probably about right.
  20. I use both for baits up & including 1 oz. I have been using a lefty bait caster recently after a lifetime of right handed reels because I prefer to work the bait with my dominate right arm. So much like @A-Jay I give spinning tackle the nod most of the time but the lefty bait caster is growing on me the more I use it.

    Welcome to BR.
  22. No a Karen is a female Karen & a Ken is a male Karen. Right Katie?
