  1. Cold wet weather does not make you sick, thats a wives tale. Viruses make you sick so you more than likely got sick at work, a child of your own, touching a door in a public place... the weather didnt do it.
  2. Found this during my searching this morning. Figured I would share, not affiliated with the following site. http://www.fhcoutdoors.com/list-of-all-alabama-rig-state-laws/
  3. You need to likely go to bigger presenations. Bigger jigs, big swimbaits, big spinnerbaits, big crankbaits...
  4. Better yet http://www.livingrubber.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=3&Itemid=2 or http://www.chesapeakefly.com/

  6. Bet they threw the rig
  7. I have a hard time believing a 17.5 dual console glass boat with a 90 runs 56mph. Maybe on glass at midnight with a tail wind if its lucky.
  8. I hope you started first and foremost with bait. I worry a lot of guys this day in age jump strait to lures. Learning how to find minnows to fish, hellgramites, catch craws, how a leech acts, what happens when a gill gets smacked off the water at 90mph are all lessons that should be learned to effectively fish artificials. How can you imitate a craw if you never tried to catch one? Fishing with lures is fun, fishing with bait will teach you the fundementals of what to do with lures while enjoying success. Im not saying dont fish lures at all, thats not practical, but do go out and learn the prey so that you can trick the predator.
  9. You wont become a good bass fisherman or a deer hunter in short order. It just doesnt work that way. You have to fail in order to succeed. Youre taking two of the toughest items and trying to fast track it. Guys do both their entire lives and most never master it, some do, some dont. I hunted for 6 years before I ever had my first whitetail in front of me. I hunted 8 years after that with a bow before I ever killed my first buck with archery equipment even though I could smoke them every year with a gun. Time cannot be replaced with book knowledge or other peoples ideas. What works for me will not work for you. I can tell you in the mountains that the deer bed 1/3 from the top and you live in a swamp where they bed at single trees in the middle of water. Get my drift?
  10. Any water is gonna be tough as nails till it gets into mid 40s-50s
  11. Fish a lot then fish some more. Youll know youve fished enough when you start to think you have tennis elbow.
  12. All you need is a google account http://www.blogger.com
  13. Just bought some stainless screws the other day. Youre looking about $1.50 with the washer and a nut.
  14. I cant remember who it was that pushed the boat into the pipe to get into that back cove. Anyone remember or have a link?
  15. Play with the idle adjustment needle. If its a two stroke, thats just how they are, especially when cold.
  16. I guess im the minority once again, i think its a waste of money
  17. Are you on the river? There was a MASSIVE black stonefly hatch coming off mid day a few caddis mixed in. My partner said he saw a fish rise twice but it was in a location that we couldnt even begin to fish.
  18. If you live close enough, you can prefish, you just have to do it when you dont think you have time. Its just like hunting, if I only hunted weekends, I would do very little. I have a family too and my state doesnt allow sunday hunting. But... in spring and early fall, I can have her take the boy to daycare and I can hunt an hour or two in the morning. Sure, it might not be ideal to get up at 4am, go to the lake, launch and fish for an hour to pull out and go to work, but its better than nothing. Or... go after they go to bed.
  19. Might try option one at least, it wont cost me a dime. Ive read about people needing two cards, I wonder why you couldnt just copy all files to another card.
  20. I should get to fish it when topwater starts being productive. That will be around may, Ill have a rod for it before then and might try it out. I rigged up my PQ for pitchn/flipn and I have only gotten to fish ONE brutal day so far so i didnt even have it out. Ill give my thoughts on both since they are both new to me asap.
  21. So, my elite 4 has 1 micro sd slot. Which means I can run the map or I can run the card to take pics of sonar. Couple thoughts 1: Could I copy the map folder(I already copied it to my desktop for backup) into the normal micro sd and then be able to see my maps and save? 2: Could you buy one of the micro sd to usb adaptors as such(http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/21/microsd-to-usb-mobidapter-is-a-smartphones-best-friend/) and then hook up an external hard drive giving you an endless supply of storage? Heck, you might even be able with the usb to put it directly to a laptop. Thoughts?
  22. Having ANY map is better than just the base maps. The base maps dont show creek channels and river channels. There are still a lot of lakes without coverage. My home lake, I can see the channels and thats it. I marked with a handheld gps the spots I wanted during draw down. Those I still couldnt see I opened the lake in Google Earth with the USGS topo plugged in and found them on there. My lake has an old farm pond in it, right in the very center that it rarely gets low enough to see. A spot in the main channel that has dual humps right off an intersection of a creek channel and a roadbed. Without google earth, I wouldnt know they exist.
  23. Paca craws on an A-rig or a C-rig?
