  1. I fish them weedless mostly, but also as trailers on jigs and spinnerbaits.
  2. I was fishing a senko on my ultralight rod at a local pond and had already caught about 20 smallish bass. I made a cast to this patch of grass and a huge bass just nailed it. I fought it for about 5 minutes and I got her 15 feet from the shore when she got tangled in the weeds. I tried everything but I couldn't get her to budge. I finally managed to get her out of the weeds, but when I did, she came up to the surface, jumped, and broke the line. I had caught my PB (8lbs) a week before and this bass would have eaten that one. She was definately pushing 10lbs, maybe more. She was the biggest bass i've every seen in PA.

The Hamburg PA cabela's is awesome. I like the Bass Pro catalogue better than the cabelas catalogue though. I go to BPS for all my fishing stuff and cabelas for hunting stuff.
  4. I need to work on deep cranking and fishing swimbaits.
  5. Yeah, It would of been nice to see more fishing and less interviews with guys who didn't qualify for the classic. I wish the would have elaborated more on the winning techniques and patterns that the anglers were fishing.
  6. white, baby bass, and bullfrog
  7. I agreed. If you are flipping and pitching more accurately with a spinning rod than with a baitcaster, your baitcasting skills need a little work. You still can get pretty accurate with a spinning rod, just not as accurate as a baitcaster.
  8. Those rods look great. How did you get part of the grip off?
  9. #1: 1/2 oz jig (black n' blue) #2: zoom trick worm #3: 5" senko wacky rigged #4: White Terminator spinnerbait #5: Rebel Pop-R (white)
  10. BPS is my favorite by far. The employees are always knowledgable and helpful.
  11. Just got the newest issue of field and stream yesterday. The wave cast won best of the best for 2008 spinning reels. It looks kinda gimmicky to me though. I did handle one at the eastern sports and outdoor show and it seemed to be well made.
  12. Does anybody split the fiber weedguard on their jigs into two parts. I have heard people say that splitting it into a v-shape deflects vedgetation better and I was curious whether or not it actually works.
  13. I really like the bite me ball jigs. As far as plastics, I like to use razor worms. I have tried 3X and I love the finesse worm's action but they always end up melting in my worm binder and causing a mess.
  14. Jimzee pretty much summed things up perfectly. The only thing I would add is that low profile reels typically (not always) are available in faster retrieve ratios than round reels.
  15. I am righthanded but I retrieve left handed for both spinning and baitcasting reels. Its just more comfortable for me and I cast better. The only thing bad about fishing lefthanded is that some baitcasters do not come with left hand retrieve models.
  16. Like Bass-Brat said, it would help to know how you fish. For all around use I would recommend the 6.3:1. I have three extremes in 6.3:1 and I am very happy with them, but again, it depends on your fishing style.
  17. I love bomber cranks. Bagleys were a close second.
  18. Jerkbaits, jigs, senkos, and some lipless crankbaits will be on my rods.
  19. I love my pflueger presidents. They are fantastic reels for how much they cost. The supremes are even better.
  20. The only application I don't think requires a sensitive rod is topwater fishing. When I'm fishing spinnerbaits and crankbaits, I want to feel what kind of cover I'm moving through. Sensitive doesn't always mean expensive, like others said, there are plenty of sensitive rods in the $75-150 range.
  21. I would pick the extreme. They come in a ton of models and they hold up very well.
  22. I like senkos, jerkbaits, and jigs in the spring. One of my favorite techniques for the spring is to take a swimming jig tipped with an Uncle Josh #11 and burn it into the boat. As I'm burning it in I give it subtle jerks with my rod tip. I have caught a ton of bass that way.
  23. Strike King Pro Mode jigs are pretty good. As far as trailers go, Paca Chunks are great. I stopped using Uncle Josh last summer. I love the action of real pork but they are a pain in the @#$ to get on/off the hook.
  24. My favorite big bass lure would have to be the jig n' pig. Under the right conditions. jigs will produce both quanity and quality. I do not think that the big bass/big bait theory has much merit. Obviously as you increase the size of your lure, the average size of the bass you catch increases, and your catch rate decreases. However, I am not convinced that smaller lures won't catch as many big bass as larger lures will. One of my favorite finesse lures is a wacky rigged 3" senko. I have caught bass from 4" to 8lbs (my PB) on that tiny worm.
