  1. not to be a jerk, but 20 ft is way to close in my opinion.

been using the suspending rogues for many years and never had a problem with them. They are big fish catching machines if used in early spring.Had someone give me a pointer in some version of a pearch color and I have yet to catch one on it.Im sure it works, I just always take it off after a few cast and put on one of my rogues. Its all about what bait you have confidence in.If you have troubles casting lighter lures then the one thing I did notice was that the pointer seemed heavier.
  3. I use it when Im using 8 lb test or less, anything above I use the baitcaster.
  4. I used permatex instant gas tank repair on the leaks around my rivots and to my surprise no leaks through a full season.
  5. get as bis as you can.I have a 10 ft jon boat with a 46 lb thrust on it and when its windy thats not enough sometimes.
  6. cart7 hit the nail on the head - couldnt have been answered any better
  7. not on the list, but i would go with a fenwick techna av
  8. thanks bassn - looks like a mad dash for it in march before its all gone again.Been there 4 times from the cape and they never had most the stuff i wanted.Got a lot of gift cards and dont want to waste them on shipping.
  9. ive always used the palomar with no troubles
  10. i bought one dt at dicks this past spring and probably only took about a dozen casts with it and i noticed a split in it where the tounge goes in.If I remember right I didnt even catch a fish on it,dont know what caused it.
  11. did they have any idea when they would get new inventory ?
  12. Once you get up into quality rods- or reels for that matter, its all personal prefferance .If a rod feels good to you for the method you intend on using it then thats the rod for you.Having a more expensive rod certainly doesnt mean that its the best rod or that you are going to catch any more fish.
  13. what rw said !
  14. Everyone has their opinions.Ive tried booyas & pure poisons and to me neither one gets close to the erattic action I get out of the gamblers.
  15. I will have to go with the rogues also.Great baits and less expensive.
  16. ive had no problems at all with this line. It is very durable in my opinion.
  17. stingray, you are right about the vanish - easily the most horrific line i have ever tied on.If I were you I would try the 100% trilene flouro though.I have been using it for a while now and it is very strong and manageable.Holds knots good too.
  18. i have mostly fenwicks but i do have a medium low rider falcon rod that is pretty good for that
  19. I cant see getting upset about someone keeping a fish of a lifetime.Personally I wouldnt do it {and ive caught my share}but Im not going to tell someone else that they cant. Its all in an individuals beliefs on this matter,as long as they are not doing it all the time.
  20. ive said it before-fenwicks are great rods, the only rods i use for the most part.I would put them up there with most high end rods.
  21. smithwick suspending rogue has never let me down. The only one i use
  22. I just put the handle of the rod in the back of my waders on the opposite side of where your casting.Just pay attention that your rod stays cocked the right way.I didnt one day and it cost me about an inch of my rod tip.
  23. I just got the 6'6" crankshaft model.I can tell you that it is a very well made- high quality rod.It has a good handle and is not very heavy.Only thing is - it is very whippy.I dont know if I am going to get used to that.Dont get me wrong because thats probably the way it is supposed to be- I just think I might like a medium action graphite better for the job.
