  1. Good call. I wouldn't bet heavy on that either.

  3. Everytime I go there this time of year I fish in Big Lick. You have to put your boat in the trees and cover the water column from top to bottom. Keep your eyes focused on the bottom where you can see it and you'll most likely spot some bass cruising around.
  4. Hey frogtog....I'll go ahead and take the '5.4' out of your post title if you want. The title will be more accurate then. ;D
  5. When trying to figure out a pattern I always fish the high % areas and the depths for the time of year it is first. Once I catch a fish I always take note of the depth first and then I look at the bank and try to find banks that are sloped just like the one I caught fish on. It may not be the tell-tale pattern finder but it's a great starting point.
  6. If Rampage is able to land a clean shot on Rashad it's lights out. I wasn't a Rashad fan until he coached on TUF. That changed my mind about him. I like both guys so whoever wins is fine with me.
  7. Let's get a drop shot thread going. Tell us the where's, when's and how's of the drop shot. I know originally it was intended to be dropped straight down into schools and fished vertically but I've been hearing about people casting the drop shot and just working it back horizontally. I hardly ever throw it and work it back, I'm strictly a 'watch the depthfinder and drop it' kinda fisherman. Am I missing something by not casting it and retrieving horizontally? Go.

  10. Yep, all companies, Shimano included make a bad line of reels every now and then. Revo's are not part of that list. As RW said, the STX is built like a tank.
  11. You sure picked a good race to watch for your first one. The Bristol night race is the bomb!

  13. Or you could go to the Bluestone ramp. It's small but it works. It's only a couple miles up the road from Occoneechee...just come across the bridge from Clarksville and take a left at the store and stay straight.
  14. Yeah, he's kinda got the Hulk Hogan thing goin' on ;D

  16. That may work up north but down south when its in the mid 80's at night with high humidity, jeans and hoodies are not an option.
  17. Does marty's buddy know what a drag is? Does he know how to set it properly? I've snapped a couple GLX's before on hooksets....both times my drag had not been set back correctly after cranking it down tight to break jigs off. Totally my fault for forgetting to reset my drag. If your drag is set properly, no rod should break. Not saying it won't, but it shouldn't.
  18. If your wife has any Skin So Soft lotion laying around, swipe it. Best mosquito repellant made. No lie.
  19. I wish Long Mike would go ahead and reply to this thread so we can lock it down. Where you at Mike?
  20. Why? That was a decent little ramp. You just temporarily forgot how to drive, dont be hatin' Burley.
  21. I wouldn't worry too much about traffic at the Occoneechee State Park ramp (across the bridge from Clarksville). The main ramp is 4 or 5 wide and there's another 2-wide ramp about 150 yards down the bank. As long as there are competent people backing and trailering, there is not much, if any back-up.
  22. The Skeet train keeps on rollin'....Davy Hite came in light today (13-6) while Skeet dropped 25-15 on the scales. That's 2 wins and 5 straight Top 5's for Reese this season. The dude is on fire. Final standings from Bassmaster.com 1 Skeet Reese 5 29- 3 5 24- 1 5 21-10 5 25-15 20 100-13 2 Davy Hite 5 24- 7 5 27- 0 5 28- 6 5 13- 6 20 93- 3 3 John Crews 5 18- 0 5 24-15 5 28- 4 5 21- 8 20 92-11 4 Morizo Shimizu 5 24- 3 5 20-10 5 20- 7 5 27- 1 20 92- 5 5 Russ Lane 5 23-15 5 23-11 5 17-14 5 26- 7 20 91-15 6 Paul Elias 5 26-12 5 18-10 5 18- 6 5 26- 2 20 89-14 7 Cliff Pace 5 23- 6 5 22-13 5 19-12 5 22-14 20 88-13 8 Mark Davis 5 27-12 5 23-10 5 15- 9 5 21-11 20 88-10 9 Kevin VanDam 5 23- 0 5 20- 6 5 22-12 5 17- 7 20 83- 9 10 Fred Roumbanis 5 27-11 5 16-15 5 18-11 5 19- 3 20 82- 8 11 Stephen Browning 5 26- 1 5 19- 5 5 18- 7 5 18- 9 20 82- 6 12 Derek Remitz 5 24- 5 5 22- 5 5 17- 8 3 7-15 18 72- 1
  23. I had a regular Merc 250 EFI on my last Gambler (04) and never had any issues with it. Started every time with just a quick turn of the key and ran really strong, even on a 22ft boat with full livewells and 48 gallons of gas. The only 2 complaints I had was 1) it guzzled gas and 2) the sound of the motor gave me a headache when running wide open. ;D I've got a Merc 250XB now which is an EFI as well but it's a little different animal than the regular 250 EFI.....it's a lot worse on gas but it's a ton stronger than the regular 250 EFI. Both motors were/are very dependable. As long as it's been checked out properly you should rest easy....it's a Merc.
