Jokes - Let's Have Some Fun
Stimpy was driving solo across the country from Connecticut to California. He was making good time by driving during the day and sleeping at night. The first night he had slept in his car but woke up stiff and unrested in the morning. So this next night he decided to get a motel room instead. So right before dark somewhere in the middle of Kansas, Stimpy pull off the Inter-State looking for a room for the night. It was mid-July and a very hot night to say the least. There was only one motel in this particular town and as he pulled in he could already see the "No Vacancy" sign was lit. Not wanting to spend another night in his car, Stimpy went inside anyway hoping for the best. The little man behind the counter confirmed that all the regular rooms were taken, but there was one small room down in the basement he would let Stimpy stay in "If he didn't mind the thousands of Flies" that filled this particular room. Stimpy thought about it for a second and then said gladly "I'll take it." The next morning Stimpy came up to the lobby and the man was there again behind the desk. Stimpy, looking bright eyed and bushy tailed, smiled and greeted the man. To which the the man asked "How'd ya Sleep?" Stimpy replied "Fine". "Even with all those Flies buzzing all around in there?" the man asked in disbelief. "Yup" Stimpy responded proudly. Then he added "I Bunched them". "Bunched them - what's that mean ?" the man inquired. To which Stimpy replied "I pooped in the Corner" . . . . . . . A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Mexico
So, I'm pretty pumped about this trip. The lake & lodge have a reputation second to none. The freak bass in Jeff's avatar is still swimming there. Terry Hollan, the lodge owner, provides weekly fishing reports on their web site. The following is a report from this past spring around the same time we're planning on going this spring. A-Jay 03/06/2012 to 03/13/2012 The past six days have been nothing but phenomenal for big fish at Lake Baccarac! I don’t think I have ever seen a week similar to this. To the best of my ability, I am going to list names and the size fish each person caught. I think I’m accurate with the exception of a couple of people. Baird Archbald, who had never caught a ten up until this trip, caught six over 10 lbs., one of them being a 13, two that were over 11, four over 10, also managed four over 9 and four over 8. Denis Bootenhoff, who won the big fish pot for his group, caught one that weighed 13.5, one over 11, one over 10, three over 9, three over 8 and four over 7. Luke Wilkerson weighed in a 12.5, one over 11, two over 9 and two over 8. Andy Archbald had 3 over 10 Gary Huffstatlar caught four five over 8, five over 9 and his big fish was a 10.5. “Mr. Big Bass”, Gil Wright, had six over 8, four over 9 and his big fish was a 10.8. Ric Stoner weighed in four over 7, two over 8, one over 9 and his big fish was a 10.6. John Stafford weighed five fish over 9 lbs. Larry Beard had three fish over 9, while Bill Doll had a 10.5 and two over 9. Scott Sinclair caught a huge 11.14 bass. Shin Tanaka caught a 10.8 and a 9.8. Now for the BIG ones. Darrell Harshaw caught a MONSTER 14.3, 9.5, 7.0 , 6.0 anfd a total of 105 fish while his brother Gwin caught a 11.1 , 9.0 2 over 7 and 2 over 6 for a total of 111 The best bite is coming from crank baits and big 1 ½ ounce spinner baits.

Buyer's Remorse, Help Me Downgrade Rods!!!
First off ~ Welcome to the BR site Second - your posts are a little confusing - "On a whim, I recently picked up some new G. Loomis bass rods. Now, I wish I hadn't spent so much on rods that are probably far to good for my fishing ability or how much I fish. " "I bought the Loomis rods on clearance at a really good price, so I know I can get my money back and more out of them." Which is it ? Either way - I'm with the majority of the previous responses here - Since you acquired this gear on clearance (which doesn't happen much) Keep It. Opting for what some might consider inferior gear for slightly less money might not be the way to go. Many anglers start with a lesser quality rod and work up to more expensive stuff as their abilities and experience increases. There is nothing that says you can't start with better gear unless the Loomis rods are the totally incorrect action / length for your applications. A-Jay

Fishing Style Match Your Personality?
Personality may influence ones fishing style. However, regardless of an angler's particular personality type, one can still exercise the Self Disciple required to fish any technique effectively. Anything else is simply an excuse. A-Jay

My Head Is About To Explode
X2 ~ Nicely put. It IS all about attitude - As you noted in your initial post "there is so much to learn about different types of lures, color, water clarity, depth, rods, reels, temperature, season, and on and on, it feels like an endless up hill battle" And you're right - however - "It's the Journey Not the Destination". You will never, ever, ever learn ALL there is to know - there's just too much. And as time goes on, someday you might think you know a good bit, just to have the bass show you (quite definitively) that you do not. However, when you combine your love of the sport with patience and a willingness to learn you will find that there is so much more to this than just "Catching Fish". No One catches the big ones every trip out - so if you use that to determine if you've had a good day or not, you might be disappointed. Clearly the objective is catching bass but remember you're not doing it in a bubble. The Great thing about fishing is that there are enough facets to it to last a man his entire lifetime- and then some. A-Jay

Jokes - Let's Have Some Fun
A senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down I-94, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this," and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch, and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The old gentleman paused. Then he said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a State trooper. I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, sir," replied the trooper. A-Jay
