My Updated Game Plan for This Season
Seems it changes a bit from season to season for me. Still prefer to chunk & wind, so I'm rarely fishing a Texas rigged anything any more. If you're targeting LMB, adding in more soft plastics to your fishing seems like a solid plan. Especially since you'll have a chance to present your bait far deeper into the cover your fishing than you'd often be able to do effectively with a hard bait. Might mean more big bass. I'll often refer to this as a refresher . . https://youtu.be/maYOGh4-eP4?t=26 Good Luck A-Jay

Swim Jig Details
Can't say for sure if one brand/type of trailer is the end all on a swim jig. My overall 'action' preference when throwing swim jigs in the waters I fish is 'subtle'. If I want/need more action, I change to a bait that does more; vibrating jig, spinnerbait. Either way, I do use a variety of trailers. Not pictured but is a bite getter for me is a swim senko. One prerequisite of every swim jig & trailer combo I throw here, is that whatever action the bait/trailer has while moving horizontally, it also needs to perform the same deal on the fall; slack line & tight line. Besides Jig head weight, line size/type often play a role in that as well. Fish Hard A-Jay

Theory: Lifelike craws vs. Not
I am quite certain I have no clue what a bass perceives as realistic or if that even matters. Nothing I throw has a life force so it's all just a lump of something inanimate. I have 4, I guess 'craws' in my boat all from SK. Rage Bug, Rage Craw/Lobster, Rage Menace and a Rodent. Covers all my needs. If I believed that they would also get bites for me, I'd try the Reaction Innovations Man Bear Pig, the Googan Baits Bandito Bug (both cool names) and a lime green flip flop. Just not necessarily in that order. A-Jay

Managing information on fishing
I agree with @Jig Man in that whatever I chose to check out initially needs to be something that fits into where and what I already do. Otherwise I'm chasing ghosts. As for learning on & off the water. Off the water for me, is more like preparation rather than learning. Finally the two hardest aspect of any new deal for me, is learning how to apply it on the water, as well as understanding that there are no guarantees it will work for me and no time frame or limits on how long it will take if it does. Paddled against the wind for 3 hours for 1 bite
Nicely Done ~ And thank you for using the "Fishing Reports" forum for your report, rather than the "Latest Catch Picture Thread" which has been a going trend for a while now. Either way, Congrats A-Jay

Lights
If you're referring to interior vessel lighting, go for it. If this is in reference to any exterior light, especially anything that is in addition to what is required for your vessel, know that depending on the body of water you're operating on, there ARE local, state and or Federal regulations the cover what is called 'conflicting lighting'. Meaning anything that can interfere with another operators ability to distinguish your vessels disposition at night. Properly displayed navigation lights tell other operators in the area your rigs size, heading, and if your anchored or making way. It also indicates the actions operators are required to take during a meeting, crossing and or over taking situation at night. While it may be getting better, IME very few recreational boaters know these rules or that they even exits. But that doesn't relieve any of us from the responsibility of knowing them & actually following them. There's liability issues that are included in every boating accident investigation (especially when there are injuries or fatalities) and Navigational rules are part of that; which includes a vessels lighting. So while a bombing down the lake lite up like a Christmas tree may seem pretty cool, to those tasked with enforcement, it's the sure sign of an uninformed or novice operator. Perhaps before making any alterations / additions to your rigs lighting, check with the governing bodies that have the latest and most current regulations on this. Stay Safe A-Jay

St Croix Mojo Bass Thrown Hooks
@ToothyCritter Dumping fish is always a bummer. I fish my open water spinnerbaits on a 7'4" MH Mod Composite rod and 15 lb FC line. This set up allows me to get a solid hook set and keep the rod bent until the fish is in the net. I might lose one or two a season but it's pretty rare. My advice is to keep the stick you have but switch out the braid and go with the 12-15 lb Fluorocarbon, Copolymer or Monofilament Fishing Line of your choice. In the clips below there's plenty of chances for the bass to throw the hook - not happening. https://youtu.be/NpVmd8ll1Dg?t=162 https://youtu.be/Z95g3H4qmp0?t=83 Good Luck A-Jay

Favorite drop shot lure?
I don't DS quite as much as I used to. But when I do, I find myself reaching for one of Paul Krew "Custom Hand Poured Baits" offerings. They are super soft and get bit. Especially before Flatworms came out. A-Jay
