  1. You and I are universes apart when it come to the definition of fun. When I'm 'fishing', I love to have company. When I am hunting for A Fish, I'll be doing that alone. A-Jay

  5. Lynn & I were back out on the paddle only water we’ve been fishing recently. On the days in & around the Holiday weekend, we prefer being on the small lakes in the Old Town Canoe verses some of the bigger water fished in the Lund. Certainly quieter and far less busy. The fishing is most always secondary on these trips. Morning started out sunny, warm & flat calm. Afternoon ended mostly the same with a few periods of wind throw in there for good measure. Cooled us down a bit and helped move the resident insect population along. We like that. Worms & stick baits caught some small bass and I even managed to pick a few off on topwater. When the wind came on I can’t resist throwing a spinnerbait which was met with immediate results – Pike. All in all, a fun day. Enjoy your Holiday weekend and Stay Safe. A-Jay
  6. I took this to the next level. I've been using a 50/50 mix of white vinegar & the Lucas Slick Mist this summer. Keeps my black hull & motor just how I like it - clean, shiny and water spot free. Cheaper than the Boat Bling Hot Sauce and works the same. A-Jay

  8. More like a monthly allotment from direct deposit at this point. I'm considering wallpapering my tackle room with the stickers that are left . . . A-Jay

  14. From perhaps different perspective ~ Rarely does the amount or number of tools used equate to a job well done. Some jobs require more, some less. Often that can be dictated by the shear complexity of the task at hand. I'd be very happy completing every job with a crescent wrench and a roll of duct tape. But some days are just whole snap-on tool box kind-a-days. And when they are, I'm happy to have them & maybe more importantly, that I know how to use them effectively. A-Jay
  15. Nicely Done ~ Way to stick with it. Congrats btw - I didn't see drop shot when you list the 'every trick in the book'. I can relate some to the conditions you're faced with. Slowing down can definitely pay off and a drop shot falls into that slot as well. Perhaps consider it. A-Jay
  16. Yea, maybe off & on. This weekend I will leave the lakes to the recreational drug users, I mean boaters. Would you believe I'm packed. I am. Nothing left to do but drive to TC and board the plane. ? A-Jay
  17. Only the messenger my friend. May need to address that with the governing body. A-Jay

  21. The LAST thing I'm ever thinking about doing, is Removing hooks. Presenting artificial baits to fish we can't see, seems challenging enough and I need every advantage I can get. I may fish a day, or a week, a month, a year or even many years, for That ONE Strike from a very special fish. I'd be selling my self short if I missed her because I removed a treble hook. Of course, I guess I'd never know just how special that fish was if I never got to hold her. Either way, I'm fairly happy with my approach so far. A-Jay
  22. When I've been able to be on the same water consistently (Not once a week) and am fortunate enough to stay with the fish & or the bait as it moves, I may be using a two bait deal; sort of like a one two punch. If not, and I'm in 'hunt' mode - baits & rig numbers start to climb . . . . . A-Jay
  23. Cool - Sound fun. As for not feeling the strike: may be depended on how far apart the basses eyes are. Thinking about hitting the carry-in Old Town lake tomorrow for a morning session. ? A-Jay
  24. I wore Columbia & Under Armour for a long time but it's HUK now. All Day Every Day ~ Big fan. Works especially well south of the border - and believe me - there's plenty of moisture to wick during those trips. A-Jay
  25. Sad to hear. A young man lost his live recently on a local lake I frequent. Flipped his kayak and was Not wearing a Life Jacket. (Hate the PFD acronym, desensitizes the value of them). Life is fragile and precious. Thoughts to his family. A-Jay
