Techniques I am working on
Hey now ~ I can totally offer some very useful info regarding Glide Baits. Falls directly into the category of "Exactly what Not to do". So I am seriously shortening the learning curve right there. My first tip is - Don't buy any. 🤓 A-Jay

Getting Ready, Help with Wintertime Bass Fishing
It's only August, So I am flattly refusing to even think about Winter. Especially since for us it's really only 3 months away. And there's no fishing. A-Jay

Question about Tournament guys
Personally, I am not the least bit surprised by that. I do realize by now, the following is not your style. However by all rights, you certainly could have started the quoted paragraph with "Being a Wicked Good Stick Myself . . . ." A-Jay

Show Off Your Work!
Been a while but I think I used a #3 Owner Hyper wire split ring in black. This bait has been a pike magnet, especially early and late season. Good Luck A'Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
After a decent day on the water yesterday, I was back in the home gym for Legs 1 workout. Not sure how many sets and reps of this Leg Press I've done over the years. But I do know that when I'm doing it right, it never gets any easier. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Planet Earth is pretty big. I'll say that there might be one or two places that rival the river. For numbers, size, and vigor. I'd submit that certain areas of Mexico would be on that list. A-Jay

I'm still trying to figure out how make this one look right. This is what happens when ones head belongs in a Macy's Day Parade. 🙃 A-Jay

BROWN BASS TOOLS ~ Questions & Answers
Since the start of this month I've been fishing my favorite big brown bass flat religiously. The water's clean, weeds are taking their time dropping back, and there have been only sporadic bait sightings. And that might be just wishful thinking on my part. When it's right, there are numbers of 4-6 inch yellow perch following every cast to the boat, and bigger schools of assorted bait are plainly visible all over the place. Despite that, the 'bycatch' that I am in contact with is VERY HEALTHY. So I'm hoping that bodes well for what's to come. Nothing remains constant forever, and investing heavily in this venture over the past few summers has yielded positive results. So it hasn't been the best case just yet And I have to admit I am both anxious and somewhat nervous. I'm planning to stick with it, because that's what's needed to catch the type of dense smallmouth that reside in Lake Menderchuck. The calendar says we should be close, but who knows? We might still be four weeks away, and our stay might only extend a week. The mutants don't stay in there long. Once the bait leaves, they bail, and if it never shows up, well, let's not even go there . As a seasoned angler, I find it beneficial to pace myself. Burning out before the full-on blitz is a real thing. I've come close to doing it in the spring a few times. Standard ops after or between every trip include Re-rigging tackle, prepping the action camera equipment, keeping the boat & truck topped off with gas, having food on hand for on-the-water dining, etc. Yard work & lawn maintenance often suffer a bit, and my dogs forget who I am. OK, I made that last part up, mostly. The song is reminiscent of the opening theme for Hank Parker's television series. Plus, I hate skipping workout days, but I will. At this point, getting an opportunity to hold a trophy is one of the driving forces of that deal. Ultimately, I can only achieve this if I'm in the water. Fish hard. A-Jay

Say "Good Night" Dick . . . . . .
The anticipation in the air as I hitch up the Pro-V Bass boat this morning is palpable. Cool and calm to start but I'm expecting a mid morning NW breeze. Sounds like bites. Be nice to break in my new net with something big & brown. Here We go ! A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Yesterday was a scheduled training day but with weather coming in I could heard my lawn saying "Cut me Mickey". So I did. Back at it with the Pull 2 day. Started well but felt like I ran out of gas near the end. Sometimes it just goes that way. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

Why fluorocarbon?
And just as a PSA ~ I've mentioned this a bunch of times. If you're bargain shopping for InvisX or Tatsu, Bulk spools may be the way to go. 1000 yd spools can be had on Amazon (vs TW) for a substantial discount. InvisX averages at least $25 less and Tatsu can be $50 less. Just add it to your cart and 'watch it' - sometimes it's stupid cheap. Just say'in. Pretty sure the bait monkey would approve of this message. A-Jay

Why fluorocarbon?
This thread is blowing up with information. There is a wealth of information available on both sides of the debate. I do not have a bunch to add except to say that when I want any presentation to go and stay deep, FC is my choice. The difference between the depth maintained by mono vs FC was cemented in my mind several years ago. While on a trip south of the border, we were fishing 1 oz. shaky heads with a 10-inch worm on humps in 25–35 feet. We were fishing the same baits but I was using 20 lb mono and Big Fish Jeff was using 20 FC (InvisX). My mono would not stay deep/on the bottom. while his FC did—and oh boy did it. HE TOOK ME TO SCHOOL. Since that day, I made the switch and never looked back. A-Jay

Say "Good Night" Dick . . . . . .
Some unstable weather for today is keeping me on the bank. But there's a 3 day stretch after the fronts move through tonight that is looking pretty Good. My spidy senses are getting especially tingly as the calendar moves to the middle, thru August and into early September. I've had a few very memorable morning on Lake Menderchuck during these times: including a Personal Best Brown bass. I would not be opposed to duplicating any of this action. Prepping the rig & tackle now . . . A-Jay
