Where is NOVA do you live??

What would you do?
I fish a lake that is almost the same way. Different temp up here then in Fl but The way I started catching larger fish is by throwing a HUGE 12" red shad culprit worm, or a 12" purple culprit worm. I rig it weedless and let it slowly sink to the bottom and once it hits bottom (which it rarely does) just pull it VERY VERY SLOWLY. Bass that are larger will go after a larger profile bait (IMO) Some people do not agree but I think so. Try it don't give up after 30 mins take it out and try it all day long. Let me know how well it works for you.

winter bass on the potomac river
I fish the winter out on the Potomac. I like to fish deep water near good current. The incoming tide usually sucks out there since with the water coming in is bringing colder water in and the outgoing tide brings warmer water. I like to fish back up in the creeks in the deep pockets. I fish jigs and huge body baits, slow rolling a spinnerbait, large profile jigs and big worms.

My fiance is awesome!!!!
Hey everyone, I just figured I would throw this out here I don't know how much everyone else's ole lady, wife, or girlfriend/or opposite enjoys us fishing. Well my fiance used to hate it when I went fishing and for the past two years I have been fishing like crazy! She hated it when I would plan trips when I was off and so was she. We used to fight all the time about fishing, she hated me fishing. Even up until the other day when I went fishing we were fighting about it. She asked me about 2 months ago what would I say if she were to ask me "If you had a tournament/fishing outing that you wanted to go and I didn't want you to go, and I told you that you have to pick between me or fishing what would you say?" I told her "Well you better have my tournament shirt washed by tomorrow" HAHA Well I think that let her know that she had to be more understanding about my hobby. Maybe it wasn't the right thing to say but she's still with me, I believe she understands now. The reason I am writing all this is because yesterday was my birthday and I turned 24, she is so terrible about keeping secrets and since she has ALL of my passwords online she was looking through my Yahoo account and found an email I had sent to Teddy Carr, For most of the NoVa guys have heard of him as he is a top of the line guide. Well she emailed him on her email and told him that I had been trying to get a guided trip with him but I just didn't have the money. SO she has a co-worker that is also a fishing partner of mine and he went half in with her to buy me the trip for my birthday. So on Sept. 20, 2008 I have my guided trip out on the Potomac River. I am so excited about the trip I can't wait!!!! I'm not sure if this was the correct place to put this so please move it if it needs to be moved.

The OL'Lady is in the hospital
I hope everything will work out for her Dominick. I'm sorry you had to give up your trip but it goes to show everyone on here that sometimes we have to give up things we love to do to be with the ones we love the most!! Glad to hear your priorities are right buddy. She is in my prayers!!!

HELP! Boat Dies...
If the boat in your avatar is the boat in question here let me shed a little light. This boat could not have a huge tank, take the tank out of the boat clean the tank from any and all debris. Then take the fuel lines off the engine and tank and put new hoses on (if they are old) Then purchase a new fuel filter and put it all back together. Once the tank, lines and filter have all been cleaned add about 2 gallons of fuel and take your boat to the lake and let it idle until you are almost out of gas. This will usually help clean any clogs you may have inside the engine itself. Once you get home take the fuel filter off again and check it to see what it looks like if it looks bad buy a new one and continue this process (if needed) until it cleans out your motor. I realize this may be an expensive route but I had to do this several years ago when I didn't feel like having a marine tech look at me boat. It took me about $150.00 to solve the problem and if I had taken it to a marina to be fixed they would have charged me $150.00 alone just to look at the boat. So all in all I believe I saved quite a bit of money.

Questionable boats for sale
Getting a new HIN should not be a problem at all. I had to go through this about 3 years ago and it took me about 1 month to get the paperwork complete and the HIN on my boat. Maybe you contact DGIF and see what they can do to help you get it started. I emailed DGIF and they e-mailed me about 45 mins later and it didn't take long after that. Good luck getting the ball rollin'

Etiquette question for you guys concerning an outing last night....
Like the other guys I think you did the right thing. I am always open to someone else's suggesti0ons and I am always either asking questions or advising what "I would do if I were you" type things. As for him saying that y'all will be going out again "soon". I agree I doubt there are any hard feelings as he is a church going man he shouldn't hold a grudge, but the next time y'all go out before you even start fishing give him a idea of what you think should work and maybe he will take you up on the suggestion. If he doesn't then once agian that is his decision. But I have a pretty good idea that he will not want to get skunked again and he is probably looking to whip up on you on your next outing.

Un-Official Joke Thread
Yes, members will have issues. The staff will have issues. I would advise you to keep them off of these forums. We appreciate it. I noticed that my "joke" was deleted. I apologize if it caused any problems. I didn't think twice prior to posting it. :-[
