Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I ordered another Vanford C3000XG from asianportal on Saturday and it arrived yesterday afternoon. I’m gonna pair it with a sweet Zodias 7’ medium which I bought from @Hawgfinder through the BR Fishing Flea Market….

Spinning reel under 250-300
Glad you’re happy with Tatula @PBBrandon, very good reel. Earlier in this thread I mentioned getting another Vanford, I ordered it Saturday from asianportal and it arrived yesterday afternoon. It’s just incredible the number of very nice affordable reels that are available to us right now….

Drop shot weights in bulk
Yeah I know, @JbroBass kindly pointed it out earlier in the thread. Some local politician a couple years ago tried to float similar legislation which fortunately didn’t get very far. * eBay is still a good option for dropshot weights

Drop shot weights in bulk
Thanks for the clarity on that @JbroBass, and I’m sorry that’s the circumstances you have to work around.

Drop shot weights in bulk
I think you’re good using lead dropshot weights @Boomstick, as long as they aren’t individually over 1 ounce per weight. “Massachusetts prohibits using lead sinkers, jigs (i.e., weighted fish hooks), or weights of less than one ounce. Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont restrict the equipment's sale, offer for sale, and use.” I’ve have good luck buying bulk from eBay, very competitive prices, quality, in quantities from 10-100.

Congratulations @Mike L on the new addition to your family and future fishing partner

When do they change from crayfish to crawfish?
They’re crawdads. Now do they live in a creek or a crick?

New trolling motor or active target live sonar?
? Which trolling motor did you decide on and was your future electronics installation of choice a consideration?

If You Could Go Back
Great topic @Mobasser, and the only thing I might change is don’t by that d**n Color-C-Lector and all the whole color palette of plastics before that trip to Lake Okeechobee back in the ‘80’s. Never used them, then or since. Otherwise, things are good just the way they are because incremental improvements (thanks to the Bass Resource community) moving forward keeps making my fishing experiences fun.

Ahhh, the state that produces the most milk is the Great State of California . If we’re talking cheddar cheese, the state of Wisconsin would be first and California would be second. Who’d a thunk ? Beautiful brown bass @A-Jay! * and the man doesn’t even step on the line guides of the two rods he’s kneeling over when taking a photo of these monsta’s, hat’s off sir!

Work and Fishing
Congratulations on your new career @JoshFromBolo, and yes working 5-8’s, 4-10’s or modified 12’s doesn’t leave a lot of discretionary free time. Work/Life balance is important especially in this line work, and it isn’t easy when you’re the low man on the totem pole. Maybe get a session in after your shift ends. Another option is to fish a team or club circuit where you know you have one day a month where you’re committed to fish. BE safe out there Josh

Drop shot - Casting or Spinning?
Primarily casting gear @Jeffrey Walker just because of where I primarily fish. The California delta can be a very target oriented fishery. Throwing (pitching) a jig, Texas rig, stick bait or dropshot on casting gear can be pretty much interchangeable and allows more control over the cast in my opinion. If you primarily fish a lake where casting distance and/or a vertical presentation is needed a spinning rod would be the better choice. YMMV

Post a photo a day!
I was fishing some hyacinth mats the other day when I came across this. At first I thought it was a big ole chunk of styrofoam because it was bigger than a gallon milk jug but with scales. Unfortunately the picture doesn’t due it justice, I’d guess this sea lions meal once weighed 30lbs….

Channel catfish baits

New trolling motor or active target live sonar?
Great first question @Brixtybass and welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums. I now have both options that you plan on installing on your boat. All I can say is a trolling motor with spot lock is worth the investment and a game changer in how it improves the fishability of your boat. As stated above- trolling motor

Do you have an all time favorite fishing reel?
True and thanks for your experience and expertise. The finish of the reel was damaged due to saltwater incursion into the California delta over the years, which was caused by various times of drought and state water policies. But hey, it’s still a great little reel that works now just as it did back ‘03 when I got it. Continued good fishing

What is the difference btwn a Shimano 20 Metanium XG and a Metanium MGL 150 XG?
X2, I just looked at the TW website and couldn’t find a Metanium for under$439.99. It was my understanding one of the benefits of buying a JDM reel was the Japanese made reels intended for their domestic market just a little bit better. Just gotta know @Randy Price, what rod are you considering pairing that puppy with?

Give me your thoughts on this…
I watched that video yesterday as well. I found it pretty interesting as to Hackney’s rationale on when he throws the two baits. Hackney did mention the importance of having a lot of confidence in what you are throwing in order to get bit. Good stuff…

what is your Daily Driver?
This is the only flick I have of my old daily driver, a 2001 GMC Yukon XL, which served the family extremely well over the years. Last I heard the old girl was on its way to Minnesota…
