Accurist PT then yes, great for 100....but make sure it's PT and not CX- Spinning Reels?
Who makes rear drag these days...other than shimano- Summit or Patriarch?
I have also noticed that the brakes are better on current Patriarchs when compared to supremes...never really fished a summit but I think it might help- Summit or Patriarch?
I have a Patriarch 71LP that I use for 10'' worms etc... and it is great for that application. I think the Patriarch has a more rounded and ergonomic feel to it. Palms a bit better and a more comfortable profile....I just repeated myself but I think you get the point- Would this be a good 10 inch worm and jig combo?
I agree with the rest...Look at a different reel...I'm not a revo fan but the S seems to be a solid reel...I just recently got a Pflueger Supreme off ebay for $65 The rod is a good rod for your application....if you haven't felt it yet, get your hands on it first...may be a tad bit heavy but it might not effect you...I personally have two extremes and like both of them.- help buying some new rods and reels
I would definitely go with the President for spinning. As for the baitcasting I wouldn't be so quick to jump on the purist....there are better. The Quantum Code combo is 129...not the best but I really like mine and has done me well. I don't know what reel is on the Quantum PT combo but it might be good to check out- How and where to fish the zara spook?
Get yourself a baby bass spook and all should be well. Were are you fishing it. I personally have had success around standing trees, over weed beds, and even in open water. My largest fish hooked on a spook was in open water of around 65 ft, I think it came off a nearby ledge, I didn't land it but that's another and why I don't use flourocarbon.- Split Ring Lure Saver
My fear with these would be a hook to the eye or bait to the face. It doesn't seem very safe to me. it seems a plug knocker would be a better and safer idea. unless you fish from the bank.- pflueger patriarch
I know that cart has commented on the ability of the patriarch to cast light baits many times so have I and yes, it casts light baits very well. I have 2 of the LP and my 64lp can cast 1/4 oz baits very well and effectively. As for the difference in the two spools, it's not very noticeable, to me anyway. I originally bought a 64LP and 64WLP at once. I sold the WLP and bought a 71LP but have recently found myself wanting a WLP...not sure why. I have small hands and the LP is wonderful but still kinda want a WLP. Regardless, both reels are top notch.- Spinning Reels?
yep....front for me- BPS Extreme Woo Daves Rods
I think the only real differences in the two types are the technique specific sizes and powers for the Woo Daves rods. I had a 6'6'' MH worm/jig Woo Daves spinning rod. I now have a 7'MH that is not a Woo Daves and besides the length I see no difference.- first time out with new rod/reel - backlash!!!!
As everyone has said...it's all about practice. From my personal experience it is easier to learn with a round reel. The heavier spool allows for easier casting. but regardless, you're gonna waste line when you first start so use some cheap line at first. As for the practice, my friend always used a hookless jigging spoon to test out new reels in the backyard or parking lot. you can use a hookless crankbait but personally I would want to ruin one unless you buy a cheap one to practice with. I may have read over this but what weight of crankbait were you casting?- Quantum Energy spinning reels
I just purchased one today, a size 30 which I think is around the size of a 35 Pflueger...sorry, don't fish shimano spinning....which is around the size I was looking for, my other is a size 40 President but wanted a bit smaller. I have an Incyte that I love...it's a size 10 that I use for crappie and bluegill so I wouldn't expect anything less form an energy. The free shipping is over at 11pm tonight and is for over $175...I bought an Asaro that was also on closeout which is why I was looking at the bargain cave in the first place.- Favorite Plastics
a 5'' stick bait (use many different brands: Zeros, yum dingers, kinami flash, ***....), and a BPS tender tube.- What does everyone think about the Carrot stixs?
I have a Carrot Stix Gold 610MHFC paired with my 64LP patriarch and it weighs almost nothing.- Reaction strike fathead jr. swimbait?
I just bought some at dicks for 1.99 a pack...haven't had time to fish them yet but for that price I won't be disappointed if they fail epically- Texas Rigged Tube
I use these instead of a bullet weight, gives them a different fall and action. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44436_100010000_100000000_100010000_100-10-0- silver thread an40...
It's pretty good line....bought some at BPS last year for 2.99 and it is well worth that....pretty strong with good abrasion resistance.- First baitcaster
watch ebay for a Pflueger Patriarch....you can find them for around that....169 buy it now- Baitcaster
I agree with the round reel suggestion...I learned on an old pro qualifier round reel and I'm glad that I did...The transition to LP reels was a little easier after fishing a round reel. The heavier spools allow for easier casting....- Rod/Reel purchase advice needed
There are some suggestions here http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1237408059- best tasting lake fish??
Walleye, especially the cheeks, blue and channel cat, crappie, and a nice 2-3lb bluegill- New Berkley Amp B/C Rod For Dropshotting
The amp rods seem nice for the price but if it were me, I would get a cranking stick for crankbaits - help buying some new rods and reels
