  1. I like the Excalibur spook (larger w/ gammy hooks and better finishes) and the spit-n-image. Image also works great as a twitch bait. A few suggestions above about using poppers and prop baits but I don't really know how that's done. These lures are made to work with forward movement, getting them to work side to side has to be tough, I'd stick with baits designed to be walked first.
  2. Norman- Marschmellow fluff.....ummm,..hit the nail on the head! RW- I can appreciate that. Enough to keep you hungry but no slush, lol. GMAN- Skitchin, or skid hoppin', is when you grab the bumper of a passing car or, a kids favorite, a UPS/mail/oil/milk truck (slower moving) and squat and ski on your soles,....(till you hit a man hole cover which has no snow on it from the steam,....ow) Often, you are spotted by the driver who kindly whips you into the embankment to rid you from his bumper. Ahhhh,...my youth,... Hookem--That thing real?
  3. Also Raul, remember that you don't need a boat ramp to use a trailer. I pull up to where we launch and the trailer is parallel w/ the shore. Dragging it 5-10 ft is much better than trying to get it on the roof. I also made a roller system to help as our launch is on an incline and can be tough to get out if you're alone. Rollers help a ton. saves the bottom of the boat also.
  4. For me , it's about hue, not color. I only use natural colors, it's just whether it's a dark color or a light color. The actual color is irrelevant.
  5. 9.2lbs.--Super spook--3 am and it's funny because I always preach that you most likely won't get your PB on a topwater. Although they can be known for some no-stop , heart pumping action when the bite is on, they don't usually produce the "biggest" fish in the lake. Literally. But on occassion,.....that rare, isolated incidence....lol
  6. Just come to Fork with us in March!! 8-)
  7. Howdy Blaker, Welcome aboard. Got a pic of yourself? We have a thing here called "members videos" We are currently building our 3rd one. For more info, read HERE
  8. Got 'em all. Keep 'em coming folks. I havn't recieved very many from the newer members so come on guys let's send in those pics!!!
  9. I brought up the T/M because even with the tie down, it adds another 30-40 lbs. Lifting an empty 14 onto a car is a bad idea,...one loaded is even worse. Let me put it this way, I wouldn't even think of trying to get my 12 on the roof of a car. It's not even really secure in the bed of my buddies pick up. The last 12 I had, a light duty (72 lbs) was no problem, I bought a thule rack system and just used the bars w/ o attachments on my corrolla wagon. This 12 is a whole nuther story. This one is built w/ the heavier gauge aluminum like a 14 and the weight reflects Before you continue, I would go to the boat place and ask if you could put an empty 14 on your car to see if it's too much hassle. Take it from there. As for a seat or leaning post, those can be removed in 2 secs and thrown in the back seat.
  10. The decks in my boat weigh about the same as aluminum. I use 3/8 cdx because my decks are actually floors. I use 3/8 so the wood actually bows a bit to take on the shape of the floor. My goal with these is to have a flat floor and keep my gear out of the water on the floor. Also wood is cheaper easier to secure carpet to neatly easily find-able easier to cut mistakes are less expensive I'm reffering to the avg Joe. If you have access, tools and some good ideas.....then maybe I would use aluminum. Depends what I'm looking to do whether or not it would be an option. For my boat, I just needed floors so no big deal there.
  11. Yea, but I didn't want it to sound like a reprimand, That is just my opinion. Didn't mean to sound harsh Texbass, I'm sure you deal with this stuff all the time and may be burnt on it.
  12. All I know is that even if I got a record up here in RI, I want Lake Fork Taxidermy to do the replica. Their work is in every restauraunt/diner in town and they are BEAUTIFUL!!! Not cheap but again, especially with taxidermy, you get what you pay for.
  13. No way,...that's lake Fork, she's just a baby,lol
  14. The only way I'll keep a fish is if it's a record. Releasing a 15 pounder would be the highlight of catching it for me. How sweet does THIS look?
  15. Its You I would think being a Director, that you would have a more substantial input. An explanation, guidance, a sample of leadership, somthing,...other than just a snide remark. You are a representative of the affiliation under discussion. putput- Perhaps the site has discussions that are considered "privaledged" and are to be shared with members only. Private boards do exist, I wouldn't take it personally. However, the information you seek should be attainable through other means.
  16. I was going to suggest making the decks removable but w/ a bow mount T/m, that can't happen. If that's a 12, having the decks "on top" of the bench seats will make it very tippy. 14, no problem. A 14 modified v will be a battle to get on a roof empty. Keeping it there won't be easy either.
  17. Meet? I dated her for 3 years! ;D
  18. Motor might be a collectible. I paid $450 for a similar hull jon, but 12 ft. That was for bare boat/trlr, unfinished
  19. Boating on a river at night can be hairy but I'm assuming you knowthe water. even still, cold water temps,...it's not worth it. should you decided to go anyway, be sure to NOT GO ALONE and PFD's are a must 100% of the time, not just driving. JMO
