  1. Think about when someone offers you a taste of somthing you've never had before. You assess the meal. How's it look? smell? any appealing characteristics? Just because you never had it before doesn't mean you won't try it if it meets your assessment criteria.
  2. from "Biology of a northern crayfish" -What do crayfish do in winter? It's thought that they become much less active, but they do not go dormant or hibernate. Adult crayfish move to deeper water for the winter to avoid possible freeze-outs. When they can finally be seen in the shallows, 55-60 degrees, it's game time. This is the main reason our shallow coves turn on so much earlier than the main lake body. This combined with the increasing warmth of the shallow water heating up makes the coves a prime place to start in the spring
  3. INFO SENT,...I want one! anyone else request one? I'm sure they will be happy to find out I use it as a salt shaker and have no plans on giving it back.
  4. It's not so much how you're fishing or what you're using aas much as where you are. Opening day for trout season here is the 2nd saturday in April. All trout waters (although they are also bass waters) are closed from the last day in Feb till opening day. If you go "bass fishing" in these waters during closed trout season, you are poaching. There may not even be stocked trout in there yet but if you get caught, you're in trouble. Other places like the salmon runs in NY have "snagging" laws and illegal lures but that all explains itself. As far as bass regulations on other lakes in other states, I think if you plan on releasing, it doesn't apply to you for the most part.
  5. If you happen to be the operator of the electo-shock boat at the DNR.
  6. Also, the ability to teach and diversity with all age groups are also factors that my sponsors found attractive.
  7. Just for the record,I thought the lady with the fish that had the 1lb lead ball in it's belly wasn't a WR but still held up because after autopsy, the biologist learned that the stomach had built a lining around the ball to seperate it from the stomach therefor concluding that she didn't put it there.
  8. We fish 12 ft jon boats in 20 mph wind all the time. Lake is only 292 acres and we very rarely fish the shoreline cover anymore. Most of our time is spent anchored, or drifting certain structure out in deep, open water.
  9. NO PRESSURE TREATED LUMBER!! Contains many harmful chemicals such as cianide and creosol which will emit fom this lumber for yrs and yrs.
  10. He's the one that actually caught it and is the one CBS interviewed. The guy holding it and lifting it in the video is his angling buddy.
  11. This is what we are making. materials: PVC-1" and 4" rocks (bowling ball size) cement 3'l x 3'w x 1'h box (we just use cardboard) build whatever size trees you want (ours will each have 2 "T" arms, like a cross with an extra cross member) with 4" pvc and then have someone hold in place "planted" in the boxes. put rocks in also cut 1" pvc to lengths if 2-5 ft tall and strategically wedge in between rocks. Fill rest of box with cement. Won't hurt environment, will eventually cover in bio-life, will not snag hooks
  12. Problem you'll find here is that those are "Stamped" rivets, "pop" rivets won't cut it.
  13. RHinolining was a huge let down. Some people have used it on the inside to seal the boat but added a TON of weight. On the exterior, it does not hold up unless applied extra thick which again,...adds a TON of weight AND drag.
  14. #1 Move that fire extinguisher to the bow. Needs to be as far away from the fuel source as physically possible. Last place you want to keep it is where the actual fire would be.
  15. Put the cover out away from the dock where you cast to.
  16. I MISSED IT! I just put sportscenter on this morning and it's a whole new show,....no fishy.
  17. There are lots of suggestions on how to fix a leaky rivet. Having tar on there now would make me avoid welding because the metal has to be extremely clean on both sides. I had a 16 ft once that had 67 bad rivets. What I did was drilled out every bad rivet, inserted from the bottom a "tapered" head bolt with a dab of 3m 5200 on the actual taper of the bolt head and a lock washer and nut on the inside. Worked like a charm. The 5200 is both an adhesive and a sealant. Bolts never loosen up.
  18. That's awesome!! EW- WHY DIDN'T YOU LET US KNOW THAT WAS COMING ON, I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SEEN IT!
  19. Then go see what I did with mine. Full details in post. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1119359773/0
  20. First question, does it leak?
