  1. Blade baits are built for catching bass in January. Heavy and quick sinking, they kick off a fantastic amount of vibration, stirring bass in deep spots numbed by cold water. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/blade-baits-winter.html
  2. Consider these five characteristics when searching for your next rod. Understanding and applying them ensures your new one meets all your needs. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/perfect-rod.html
  3. Hey HEY now! Don't go telling everyone flat-sided cranks work year round. Geeze man...they might think you're not joking.
  4. 54 and sunny today. And what's the butcher's name on the Brady Bunch? And no Googling it! If you know, you know.
  5. Ultra-tough, bullet-proof leader. Just what you need. https://bit.ly/3DxYyRR
  6. If only there were a surefire way to diagnose cabin fever....
  7. @Junger I can't help you there. My wife never questions what I buy because she spends more than me on fishing gear! LOL
  8. Who gives a rats about what you bought and how much you did or did not spend? That's a level of pettiness that cannot be helped. You don't need people like that in your life. They'll only bring you down and try to prevent you from achieving your goals. Replace them with better friends that support you and cheer you on!
  9. 50 and sunny the whole week for me. Usually it's 42 and raining. Weird weather indeed.
  10. On a good note, the Vikings safely flew home last night. It's the only successful touchdown they've had all week!
  11. More broke-off fish with hooks stuck in their mouths? That's fodder for PETA. It's a hard "NO" for me.
  12. Well wouldn't ya know? Nailed it. That makes the Seahawks the only team in NFL history to have back-to-back winning seasons without a playoff appearance. Hey, you gotta "win" at something, right? 🤣🤣 It's also their best record since 2020.
  13. Here are the 5 best baits to use in January and exactly how to fish them to catch bass in cold water. Whether you’re working deep structure or shallow points, these techniques will help you stay on the fish all month long. Enjoy!
  14. I do not have a Physyx.
  15. I have both. The Legend is definitely better for fishing slow-moving lures. It's lighter and more sensitive. The Trigon Mojo has a good grip on it, which is great for two-handed casting like back-handed casts with spinnerbaits. The key thing here is that with spinnerbaits, rod sensitivity is not a primary concern. You can tell when a bass hits a spinnerbait. Even decades ago when I was fishing with composite rods, I didn't have any problem detecting spinnerbait bites. The Trigon Mojo is FAR better than those composite rods, both in sensitivity and weight. So you should be fine. But if a light rod like the Legend is your jam, then you probably won't like the Mojo.
  16. Just be careful on the roads. Icy roads don't have friends and favorites. You might feel your driving skillz are legit, but the dude without insurance and an expired license doesn't. And he'll ruin your day. Get your stuff done now and stay home if you can.
  17. It's going to be above average temps in my neck of the woods, hovering right around 50. Overall, it's been an unusually warm winter so far.
  18. That's probably Iron ochre. It forms when groundwater that flows through iron-containing soils picks up iron and brings it to the surface. The iron then reacts with oxygen in the air to create iron oxides, which form the orange sludge. Iron ochre can be found in slow-moving drainage and french drains. It often smells like sulphur or rotten eggs. Since it forms naturally, it is not harmful nor toxic to a lake in small- to moderate-amounts. In very large quantities, it can smother aquatic plants and clog fish gills, causing cause great harm to the fishery.

  20. Spinnerbaits are my confidence lure. This is an older video, but everything in it still holds true today:
  21. Gamakatsu is 40 mins from my house. I've been there. We've fished together. We've been to Japan together. They sent me a bunch of Japanese baits for Christmas. We've met. I've been using and sharpening their hooks since 1992, when they were first introduced in America. That "guide" is smoking crack. All hooks, regardless of how they arrive in the package, can be sharpened at any time. My friends at Gamakatsu get that deer-in-the-headlights look when somebody infers you cannot sharpen a hook for whatever reason. Here's how to get them razor sharp once they start to dull (note the Gamakatsu jighead in the video):

Thank you @Jigfishn10 and I hope your parents age well and you can still reminisce with them through 2025. Happy New Year!
  23. Just close your eyes and imagine him in frigid weather. You got this!
  24. Watch Mike McClelland from BassResource as he breaks down everything you need to know about winter crankbait fishing. Don’t let the cold hold you back—there’s fish to catch! Watch now and get ready to reel in some monsters this winter!
