  1. He just beat me too it. Last Christmas ( 07 to 08) They had the extreme combos , marked way down, except the rod was not the extreme in the paper. A member who I know and trust, who worked for BPS, said the rods were specially made for the sale. They were listed at the full retail OF THE EVERYDAY COMBO and the rod was in fact different They Had the Rick Clunn ( I happen to love that reel) combo listed as on sale last Fathers Day, at the Harrisburg PA store, it was a LTD ( DIFFERENT REEL) and rod, I know I went to buy it and it was not a Rick Clunn. If you think adding LTD makes it alright and it is not misleading , more power to you. I buy for a giveaway program and have not had these issues at other retailers, especially Cabelas, who are probably their biggest competitor. They do have a habit of putting up a piece of merchandise on the web site at an inflated price then a few weeks later putting it on sale for a month at the price they wanted to sell it out to begin with I do not work for or own stock in Cabelas, just a mook who really watches for good prices and fair practices
  2. Hah I knew it: ON THE LOCAL 4pm New ( ABC AFFILIATE HERE) The price of crude jumped today with the announcement of much lower GASOLINE ( not oil) reserves than previously announced by the oil companies. Tell me these folks ain't playing a fixed game :-?
  3. That's all good for college economics, and if everyone is playing by the rules. Commodities Markets were first set up so farmers could draw on funds from buyers, who speculated what the crops were going to be worth. Now lets shoot to the present. How about this 8 of the Enron Crew, you know the folks who fixed power prices on the West Coast, are now major players in the Oil Rings on the East Coast, check it for your selves. These guys have money from clients with deep pockets, who are afraid of the precious metals markets ( where some big money usually rests during recessions) so they invaded the oil rings . They are pushing the prices up, as we now have somewhat of a supply equally demand, unless they hold back and do not refine the barrels of oil they already have Am I the only one who has been wondering , when the economy was on the brink and Christmas sales were needed HOW DID IT GO DOWN TO .99 a gallon , from 5.00 a gallon and why? Oil has gone up from 54 (Dec 08)to 71 a barrell for crude a 76% jump Gas at the pump has gone from .99 to 2.80 , I know this does not factor in demand. I also know that the price is changing during the day, when no deliveries have been made, so they are going by a cost they did not pay. Conversely , when oil goes down it takes a week and the decrease in price is not proportional to the increase ps 2 weeks ago, an Oil Spokesman said that since more hybrids are hitting the nmarket, and people are driving less we will see an increase per gallon. I do not make this stuf up you know
  4. You are right... it has mostly to do with comfort and a little to do with health and safety in the outdoors. The long sleeved "fishing shirts" I wear are fast drying, vented and are much cooler than even a short sleeved t-shirt. I suspect that if you spent much time fishing in our summer weather, you would probably be looking for a fishing shirt! To go one step further, I have a long family history of skin cancer, and have had a few places cut out already on me... so long sleeves and spf ratings are important to me, especially since I often forget my sunscreen. Seriously though, the comfort alone is worth twice the price. Hey Keith: You are just too white ;D ;D I understand about sun and cancer, being dark skinned I just do not worry about things like that . Either way if I was naked I couldn't be more comfortable then in Cargo Shorts and a Tee Shirt. 8-)
  5. WHEW I thought this was going to be about circumcision or something!!!!!!!!!! What A relief>>>>>>>>>>> my mistake!!!!!
  6. NO JUST BPS does on this issue. I am speaking from personal first hand experience, which goes back for a number of years dealing with this retailer. Posted complaints by members I fish with and have become friends with over the last 3 years here, well their posts definitely matter. I really don't enjoy being talked down to. I only rate what I use and I have used everything I talk about,
  7. High tech clothing and all that Columbia stuff, is all highly recommended by the people who sell it, market it or are sponsored by these companies I have a collection of Faded Glory ( wallyworld) Cargo Shorts(10$) , and t shirts with holes in them ( hidden so Elaine doesn't declare them window rags) and it does not get more comfortable than that. What you wear has absolutely nothing to do with fishing, unless you get sucked in by the industry.
  8. I have bought 4 Trions , all in excellent condition right here on our Flea Market all for 45 bcuks ( one was 40)
  9. Thank you for your service, stay safe and you are in my prayers.
  10. No, I don't care at all. Gear has nothing to do with fishing, usually T shirt and shorts and my good luck Dodger Hat, I got from my Dad. If it's nice enough I loose the shirt so it's easier for the bugs to feast on me
  11. Nice going dawg
  12. What happens a lot, is they try to rope in the less informed fishermen. The last 2 fathers day they had on one year the Extreme Combo, same reel, horrible rod and a Rick Clunn , that was not the same as the every day combo. The issue is the combo pics, on a lot of the circulars are of the every day combo, this happens frequently here. Do a search there have been many threads about this issue.,
  13. Bass have horrible memories because as they say Where there is Grass there is Bass
  14. My 3 favorites Yogi Berra; When you get to the fork in the road, take it Mr. D'Angelo Brooklyn NY. Fella named VANOOCH in Brooklyn ; Explaining peoples stance on FAITH Well Kid It goes like this , there are 3 types of people when it comes to believing in god The Faithful: They Believe in God The Atheists: They Don't believe in God ' Then there are the people who are not sure if there is a god they are called the ANOREXISTS!!!!!! gotta love the old fellas back in Brooklyn, they made me what I am
  15. Wow thats right about where Speedbead Lives ! Welcome to PA PitchinKid
  16. This is my one B&$#H about BPS, they do it all the time. They will either suggest or actually show the wrong pic of a rod and reel combo to get suckers to buy them. Every Fathers day and Christmas, they have a reputation to sell to customers THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT If you search you will find one of these threads, every spring/summer and every Christmas , since I have been a member here.- >

I like LSU and Arizona State
  18. I work daily with many young women who have suffered and rape and I can tell you all without exception cringe when they here stuff like this. Take your official definition and put in it school where it belongs. In the real every day world this term is rude and unacceptable
  19. I am with BRR here, he hit the nail on the head. The Purist and Eschelon are really crappy reels, I don't know why they do not discontinue them I use only Pflueger Bait casting reels and I am sure you will be more than pleased with any reel from the Trion up to the Patriarch, stay away from anything below them in the line up I cracked an Eschleons Graphite Body, and I have used a Purist a couple of times, I wasn't feeling these reels :-/
  20. If you look at the hand holding the jaw, it has nail polish, and the shadow from the sun should be to the right not the left. This is a photo bucket shot and that fish actually weighs 9.97 if you ask me
  21. Not all the time, ask anyone fishing natural lakes on the North East Coast, the weedy flats, all through them and particularly if there is cover like a big rock in the middle are great bass magnets. If you were to only fish the weed lines and not the flats themselves you would miss out on some of the best fishing on these lakes.
  22. Thanks Roger; Copied and filed. Greenwood lake had a few different types of water going on, that's where I first noticed it. Those 2 arms by Long Pond and the old 17 bridge , were definitely Eutrophic and held some nice LMB.
