  1. I think several thousand tons would be more appropriate.
  2. First of all, don't drop Shimano as a choice. They are the favored brand on this site for a reason, and very user friendly. Second of all, don't drop Abu Garcia as a choice. The Revo series of reels has a little bit of everything, and is also extremely favored in the fishing community. From my personal experiences, The higher end Shimano reels from the Citica E's on up, and the higher end Abu Garcia reels from the Revo S on up, seem to dominate the fishing world. The two brands you dropped are, in my opinion, the most popular and both live up to their title. With that said, every major company has reels that are worth buying, you just need to figure out what you want in a reel. I recommend going to the nearest BPS or Cabelas and fiddling around with as many reels as you can find in your price range, then make your decision.
  3. You fish for Southern? You gonna be there? A guy from my high school fishes for southern, but I only know him as Sloth. Wasn't really friends with him, just heard from a buddy of mine that goes to southern that he fishes there.
  4. They only have left hand retrieve in stock, otherwise I would of picked one up. :'(
  5. The ones listed above are probably your best bet. I would add the BPS Extreme to the list as well. Whatever you decide on getting, know that you get what you pay for with B/C reels.
  6. P-line Flouroclear is also a very good line as well, or at least in my experiences. Its a very limp line with a smaller diameter when compared with mono of the same lbs test. I use it to fish light worms and jigs in 12 lb test. I haven't noticed any more or less abrasion resistance then trilene 100% flourocarbon, but sometimes it gets stretched in odd spots that would only come off the spool on my lengthier casts. One thing I can say though that it is pretty dang strong. Last tournament when I got a shakey head hung up my boater commented how strong my line was when I couldn't get my shakey head to break off.
  7. To stay on topic with the thread, this statement is now a pet peeve of mine. Or possibly just ignorance in general. So because someone tries harder in college to receive a higher degree, that constitutes them as a jerk? And it's a fact that people with higher degrees have a higher average salary than people with a bachelors or no degree. So it is possible, and probable that they WILL be doing better than you.
  8. Thanks for the info buddy. I'm sure my boater we'll appreciate that as much as myself. We'll be in a Triton as well with a Merc 125 I believe. Its white and says "Team War Eagle Fishing" on the side. So if you see a couple of heathens in Auburn Jerseys like the one in my avy, I'll be on the back. My boater just took 1st place in the FLW college fishing Lake Okeechobee event last weekend, winning 10,000 for our school. So hopefully he can get 2 wins in a row, and I can get my first ever tournament win with him. Either way it should be a great weekend on the lake, with the warm weather.
  9. www.collegebass.com has a list of teams that participate in their events, its quite the list and should help out a little bit.
  10. If any kind gentlemen have any tips on Clarks Hill and whats been going on that would be awesome. I am Fishing the College Bass East Super regional on the 7-8 and have friday to prefish. We are launching out of Wildwood Park. I read some reports saying the fish have moved up to about 4-8 ft of water and are hitting jigs on wood structure, shad raps back up in the rivers, and crank baits on rocky points and road beds. So if anyone has any good info about some fish you've been sticking, or maybe some good spots within a good distance from the ramp, let me know!
  11. it ended before i saw it > o well. I have a feeling I'm gonna get the Quantum Energy or save up for a Curado E5 since I love my E7 so much.
  12. I'm looking for a reel with a lower gear ratio for cranks, but don't want to pay for a Curado E5, or anything else in that high of price range. Other than the BPS Extreme, what other reels around that price have a lower gear ratio.
  13. They were off by over half a pound, too bad for Ike :'(
  14. First of all I think this is a little ridiculous, flopping on the carpet for a second or 2 isn't going to be nearly as much of a deal as sitting the fish in a dry bag for a few minutes while they weigh in. And for whoever said the bag is wet, that's only the water that was on the fish to begin with, they don't pour water in the bag. But I do think carpet culling and other things like that should be cut out. For example, When Skeet Reese caught his last fish of the day, it was too big to swing and he lipped it. He then picked it up, dropped it from a standing position with his arms by his side to the floor, and turned to his fans in boats surrounding him to start cheering. After the cheering he turned around and picked up the fish to put it in the livewell. While that still isn't a big deal to me, it shouldn't have been done, swinging the fish onto the carpet is one thing. But if you're going to lip it, at least do it right.

Here in Auburn we sing a little different version of that song, all my tiger fans know what I'm talking about. @#$% YOU ALABAMA, WAR d**n EAGLE!!
  16. Naw, anyone who says "Roll Tide" is in a bad place in my mind
  17. I'll be there from Auburn.
  18. It sounds like you have been talking about the Curado E's not D's. The Curado E's are the newest model. You can find the older Curado D's for much cheaper used.
  19. I think yours would be fine, a MH would be better but whatever works for you.
  20. step 1: go buy power pro braid if you didn't the first time step 2: apply tension when reeling it onto the spool step 3: be happy 8-)
  21. Wow RW, never thought you would of suggested Yo-Zuri. :
  22. The Chronarch the best reel I have used to date, but keep in mind size and weight isn't a big deal to me. Either way I have never used such a smooth reel. It can also cast the lightest lures with ease.
  23. Its a lake. Thanks for all of yalls tips. I'll definitely try the wacky rigged senko if my boater gives me the time.
  24. I did a search and nothing came up so, what are some of your favorite baits for fishing bridge pilings, specifically in about 20 ft of water. I'm fishing on West Point Saturday and last time I fished it that's about all I did and was not as successful as I had hoped. Thanks in advance!
