  1. Anyone have any tips for me this time of year? I have a tournament there tomorrow and decided to see if I could get any last minute advice.
  2. Honestly, I always seem to do well with a shad rap size 7 in any natural pattern. Jig and shakey head is always a good option as well, preferably in green. Fish points, backs of creeks, anywhere that looks good. Once you find the fish this time of year, they shouldn't be too difficult to coax into biting.
  3. No check out collegebass.com and do a google search on the southern collegiate bass fishing series. FLW is brand new this year, but college fishing has been around for a little while. Also once you get into the loop there are some invitationals your school can get invited too. I have fished over 10 Tournaments for Auburn this year and not one has been FLW.
  4. If I'm just out with some buddys and not practicing for a tournament, 3 or 4. If its a tournament or practicing for one, then about 6.
  5. I like to flip with the lightest weight I can get away with, a lot of the time being a 3/4 oz or 1/2 oz. I have set the hook and missed with 50# braid and had it pop behind me and send my $6 sinker 30 yards into the middle of the lake many times. I switched to 20lb Big Game and haven't had a problem setting the hook and missing at all, and I have not broken off at all either, so until I find a better reason so use braid again, I'm done with it.
  6. If by "they" you mean FLW, then browse through some of the other collegiate series tournament rules, I'm pretty sure FLW is the only one that specifies that it must be a 4-year college.
  7. E21 or Avid would be my choice. Can't really go wrong with any of those choices though.
  8. 20 or 25lb Big Game in most situations, if I'm working nasty stuff at a distance, or its an absolute must, then braid.
  9. Depends on the lure. Normally 3. If I'm throwing a lighter crank like a shad rap or something of the sort, ill bump it to 4.
  10. Us Georgia guys should meet up this summer when I'm back in town.
  11. I seriously doubt anyone is currently doing this. Like others said, the talents out there. And with exception to Bill Dance, its not like they are pulling in 5lbers one after another, they catch small fish too. I've seen several shows where they didn't catch a fish over 3lbs all show.
  12. Split grip, I like foam, otherwise, cork.
  13. I agree with The Natural. Except use 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid on anything your going to throw topwaters on.
  14. chronarch b from ***.com e21 carrot stix
  15. I'm not positive this is the reason, but I think its because it doesn't break the surface tension of the water the way you are placing it on top. If it truly floated, it should float back to the surface regardless of where it was in the water column. Wayne's tests show that they don't even suspend.
  16. Ugly Sticks..... They are sensitive emotionally... :'(
  17. While I do enjoy catching fish on different baits, I always seem to have a better time when I'm catching them on just one.
  18. I disagree. I picked up the 6'9" MH F for jigs and noticed my hook up ratio just about doubled. Although I have never used a Crucial, I think the rod is definitely worth the $150 as far as sensitivity goes. Its worth $200 overall .
  19. Haha, faulty trick worms for me too I guess. We should contact Zoom so they can recall all of these bags of worms we are getting. :
  20. Derek, regardless if the trick worm is considered a floating worm, it does not float. If dropped into water it will fall to the bottom. Add the weight of a hook and it definitely sinks.
  21. Don't tell but we cheated in the tournament. Instead of culling our smallest fish, we stuck it down Dotties throat.
  22. Looks a lot like a fish my partner caught at our last tournament... ...I think you all remember dottie... BTW definitely real, no photo modification what so ever.
  23. to the fish and to the overalls!
