  1. I thought the Snapper G posts were done with! :-?
  2. I never leave home without a red plaid shirt anyways. :
  3. Its still 2.97 here in Auburn. I'm going home today and normally on the way I spy some pretty cheap gas. I'll report my findings later.
  4. $240.51 I'm going to be 18 before the contest ends....does my guess still count?
  5. About a month ago I went to Dicks for a Cavitron, a couple jigs, and some 5/0 hooks. I left with all that plus a Quantum PT Energy and a decent rod for it until I saved up more money for a better rod. Last week instead of getting a better rod, I got a Curado E7 and another decent rod until I saved up money for a better one. So now I need money for 2 rods?!?! For me it seems to be a reel monkey. >
  6. Nice fish guys!! Where did you say that lake was again??
  7. There was a shortage??????????????? Sort of. Where I live most of the gas stations only had regular, some were completely out, some had all grades.
  8. Its just such a long rod I was going to solely use it for flippin' jigs in the qualifier. I put some 15 lb fluro coated mono we will see how that does for now but I will most likely end up putting some braided on it before sunday. My flippin rod is my frog rod as well. When you get a bass caught in heavy cover, you'll wish you had 50 pound test! Definately put braid on it, they lake will probably be pretty muddy considering the rain we've been having. So line visibility should not be an issue. If you still want the invisibility of flouro, just use about a 4-foot flouro leader. Sam, why not flouro on treble hook baits? Does it make cranks dive deeper or something?
  9. Throw them on your brand spankin new baitcaster, and hold the line tight with your thumb and index finger as you reel. Now your line should be spooled tight and ok for the next cast. If your talking about the tangle your getting with your spinning reel, your probably using too much and too thick line.
  10. I saw them at wal-mart but not for that price. Acedemy had them for $109. Another deal I saw, the local Dicks was selling Citica's for $79. Too bad they only had left-handed ones left, I'm going tomorrow to check if they got more in stock.
  11. I'm on Auburns team and I'm pretty sure I'm doing it. The head of our club said we can't sign up online, that he would have to sign us up or something like that? Also I was told that we would drive our own boats, but we were compensated for gas. I could have misunderstood but I'm pretty sure that was what I was told.
  12. Youth. Try .59 a gallon when I first got my license. . . and that was only about 22 years ago. I'm sure some of these old timers can remember .30-.40 a gallon when they started to drive. And how long after that did they invent electricity?? Yes I realize that it used to be cheaper haha. What I was trying to get at is that just 3 years ago it was a crisis that gas was over $3, now its considered "cheap."
  13. My sophomore year in high school we had 2 days of school canceled because gas prices jumped up to about $3 and the school system considered it a crisis. Now I would skip school just to go fill up for $3.
  14. $3.89/gal in Auburn. I haven't searched around for cheaper gas though, but I'm sure it doesn't go below $3.70/gal.
  15. Well hey, it would be cheaper than filling it with gas. And then at least you would have a tasty beverage whenever you want. But it would cause a reduction in gas mileage with all of the bathroom stops you would be making! Unless you invent a Kool-Aid powered engine, id say leave the gas tank a gas tank, and fill it when its cheap! ;D
  16. For under $10, Rapala and Bombers have been my favorites, but I'm not a big crankbait guy. I haven't tried the minus1's yet but they look promising.
  17. I'll be happy when $20 can actually get my truck around the block.
  18. Thank you for coming clean. I'm sure there are a lot of people on this forum that understand and are more than willing to give their forgiveness. On another note, lets clean up the grammar of Snapper G and start Bassboss off with good grammar and spelling. This post was already a much easier read than most if not ALL of Snapper G's, lets keep it that way! ;D
  19. Cobia get my vote for hardest pound for pound. I've caught a 35 pound paddle fish on 10 lb line. I broke off about a 30 inch cobia on 35 pound line and had a fight that wore me the heck out on a 26 incher. Mind you cobia are not fat fish in the least. Doubt it weighed over 8 lbs.
  20. When I'm not here at school I live in Suwanee/Cumming, Ga. I've fished lanier once with little luck, but that was due to lack of knowledge. No boat though so most of the time I fish whatever ponds I can find.
  21. I own two reels with a flipping switch, but I never actually use it. So far it hasn't taken anything away from the reel, in fact, they are my favorite two reels. My "ole reliables" you might say.
  22. I just picked up that same reel yesterday, and i am in LOVE!!!
  23. what do you guys think about braid on soft plastics and jigs? think any visibility issues would occur? same for spinnerbaits and cranks? i would like to use braid all the time except for topwaters but i fish braid much less confidently with the slower moving baits, thus producing less fish. i feel like the fish have all day to see the braid.
  24. Hey guys, I've been searching like crazy trying to find what type of line y'all generally use for your different types of baits and I'm just as clueless as when I started. Let me know what you guys use for: soft plastics: jigs: frogs: buzzbait: spinnerbait: chatterbait: crankbait: topwaters: and any other type of bait you can think of ;D! If there is anything I should be aware of while using said line on said bait let me know as well. Thanks in advance!
  25. what is illegal about it in MN? having two hooks?
