  1. I have three different rods I use for jigs depending on the situation. A 7' M for light or no cover A 7' MH and a 7'6" H for heavier cover. My vote goes to carrot stix for the heavier stuff, and St Croix for light cover.
  2. If you are asking if they are a low profile reel, then yes they are. If you are asking if they are small for a low profile reel, I don't think so. But reel size hasn't ever been a big concern of mine.
  3. Its pretty upsetting that people are actually going to antagonize Americas best athlete because he smoked pot. Lets take a hand count of every professional athlete and iconic figure that has ever smoked pot or committed any small crime for that matter and see who's left to still look up too. My guess is nobody. Phelps is still an incredible athlete in my book, although he should of chosen a more interesting sport
  4. ill cast past the centerline of the boat if its necessary, if we trolling along pretty quick ill wait to see how far out his casts are then adjust as needed, and most of the time its over the centerline.
  5. A lot of reels do that, but I don't know what causes it other than normal use. Go to a store that has reels on display and you can probably make that noise with every one of them if you try. If yours is doing it extremely easy, say where it would happen very often with every day use then your problem has become more severe, and you should probably have a reel mechanic check it out, or if you have a warranty see if your problem is covered.
  6. im interested, but would need to know all the dates and stuff, AU bass club comes first.
  7. A buddy of mine got one on that deal, wish I was buying another reel right now. Easily the smoothest casting reel I have used to date, not to mention it can cast the LIGHTEST lures with ease.
  8. Well you know a couple of our guys will be there, although I personally won't. Good luck and have a great weekend.

Redfish and barracuda don't swim in freshwater. So if he is fishing for LM bass, then he will have no chance of catching those.
  10. I haven't been able to get a top water hit at all this winter, thats impressive. I haven't fished the Alabama river yet but from what I hear it really holds some toads.
  11. ill save you time so you dont have to read the next 100 posts x100
  12. I got the 7'6"H for flipping as well and it does great. Light and sensitive.
  13. Yea one of my buddies can lick his elbow. It's not impossible
  14. Citica or Curado E, carrot stick or cumara, trilene 100% flouro Thats around what I would get, but whatever you decide on enjoy!
  15. The first braid I tried was Spiderwire and I had a number of problems and gripes with it. I got some PP and haven't looked back. I love the stuff, casts a mile and is strong as an ox.
  16. I use the Citica E for the same thing your looking to use it for and love it. Very simple, smooth, light, and casts very well. The only thing that I have tried that I would put ahead of it casting wise is the Curado E. I say go with the Citica E, just grab a spool of your favorite line for cranks, you won't be disappointed.
  17. For your price range I recommend taking a peak at what St Croix has to offer. St Croix rods are probably my favorite for the price.
  18. IMO the best spinning reel for the price is the Abu Garcia Cardinal, it goes for around $40. That way you can spend a little more on a nice rod like the St. Croix Avid Series or something along those lines. Either way good luck on your decision. And BTW Carrot Stix have a lifetime warranty as well. So theres another option for you!
  19. I have one and it squeals when it casts every once in a while. I bought both a curado E and a Citica E and like them a lot more than the quantum. Buy the citica, you wont regret it.
  20. I bought several quantum reels, but not the one your speaking of. My experience with quantum in general has been pretty good, but now that I've jumped on the shimano train, theres no going back. Look for a used citica or curado in your price range, you wont regret it.
  21. go to flwoutdoors.com and watch the lake toho tournament. might help. if you don't watch it, brett hite took 1st place and used a vibrating jig w/ a swimming senko trailer. swam it on the edges of shallow grass and pads.
  22. You might want to paint the bottom of your boat in that pattern, that way you can just drive out any ol' place on the lake and when you hear the clunk on the bottom of the boat, you know they are around.
  23. Skeeterman, i use 14 lb Vanish on my jig rod, but i use 50lb power pro for heavy cover. I have never had any problems pitching or flipping with the vanish though. In fact it casts pretty darn well.
  24. i doubt anyone on this forum will think thats funny, but about 6 years ago i watched all the sb emails...that was pretty funny
  25. What about yalls favorite soft plastic to flip grass with? I personally like netbait paca craws, or brush hogs. I hear a lot of people flipping tubes, but I have never tried it out.
