Daiwa Ardito-Tr Casting
I was going to jump on one at FW but they had already raised the prices. No one in my area carries them but they definitely are attractive even at retail.

Does anyone own one? How do they compare to other travel rods? Ratings accurate?

What Lb. Backing For 20 Lb Power Pro?
I use whatever size mono or copoly I have around. Usually 6 or 10lb. I spool enough backing to cover the spool then the rest with braid. Braid is relatively inexpensive considering it practically lasts forever and having like 20 yards on a filler spool is pretty irritating. There's only so many household tasks i can use the left overs for.

Hook Cutting Pliers
I've carried a pair of Klein diagonal cutters in the past but never had to use them. They cut through heavy gauge nails and screws without issue so I would imagine hooks would be like soft butter. I crush all barbs and have been able to get hooks out with forceps or needle nose pliers.

Braid Size For Spinning Reels
20lb is my preference for spinning reels but 30lb should be fine especially for that price.

South Miami Fishing
Caught a couple peas this afternoon on both watermelon/black flake and pink/bubblegum 3 inch senkos. They were in the 1 pound range but fought like champs on the UL. Also had a small LM that unhooked itself a few feet from the shore with an epic jump. These were hooked up right behind a patch of weeds in front of a drop off. Not much activity in the shallows. Sorry, no pics from this outing.

Excellent report! This warm weather has got the peas out and active. That's great they cooperated for you.

Depression
Get him to see a therapist first before going to meds. They can diagnose and possibly work with him without the drugs. I've been to those dark places growing up and it definitely helps to have someone to talk to.

They need to be washed/cleaned after so many uses but they work for a quick clean. I like the otis kits.

Finesse, Baitcasters, Vs Standard
I absolutely love the way my 51e fits my hand. I picked up my 201e and it feels enormous in comparison. If I can't get a 50 sized BC, I'll go spinning. For now anyways.

Thanks! It's a stradic 1000 ci4+. I had it on a Daiwa procyon while I waited for the Fenwick to come in. Best tackle purchase I've made in a very long time.
