camera question.
hm. i was thinking about picking up a camcorder and/or replace my older canon 570IS. it does take videos , but only youtube sized and with good (not great) quality. i would like to be able to take videos that can be played on my TV. would a newer HD camera do that , or would i be better of just getting a camcorder? sorry to highjack , OP.

symetre vs supreme
i considered the symetre as well but i didnt want to settle for something. i am also hesitant to purchase off ebay but i do a bit of research on the seller by looking back on whatever negative feedback they have to see what they had issues with. ive bought something from this seller before iirc , and everything went smoothly. i do try to support the local shops but being so close to the ocean , it seems all they carry are larger saltwater reels. i get some funny looks and some " :-? for what?"s when i tell them im looking for a 1000 size reel ;D.

symetre vs supreme
ive had my eye on the saros for a long while now. ive owned a couple citicas a shimano rods without any complaint so i figured with their solid reputation , they build a solid spinning reel for the price. thats not to bash pflueger. i did have a couple presidents and the others ive held felt good.

symetre vs supreme
well bps doesnt have the 8025 i wanted so i went ahead and hit up ebay for a saros 1000f. ;D im super exite.

Buying question
it doesnt matter who is on the front of the package or that the bait won a tourney 8 years ago on some lake 900 miles from me. i do have a bit of brand preference though. and honestly , i dont follow the pros enough to know what is 'hot' on the market.

symetre vs supreme
woah ;D thanks guys. ill bring the rod with me and see how the two supremes balance out. BPS is pretty good about keeping their customers happy , so i imagine if i didnt like the reel , i could always exchange it.

hi vis braid
ive always wanted to try some high vis braid but always grabbed the green color first. im also curious to know how many use a yellow or red line in clear water. some water i fish can be like glass on a calm day.

symetre vs supreme
ill be heading to BPS sometime this week to pick up a new reel for my fenwick and im stuck between the symetre 1000 and supreme 25 or 30. i can MAYBE do the saros 1000 if its worth the extra. suggestions?

my sons are peacock happy!
i think dade/south-dade would be your best bet. the c-100 canal is great but the fish there seem really picky about what they will take. the big upside to the canals is that there are also largemouth , mullet , tarpon and other random species in there. ive heard great things about the airport lakes too. live bait is always the best bet for any kind of action but fluke type baits do well. any 6'+ M/F spinning rod will do fine imo.

todays outing.
thanks guys. pics were shot with a camera phone. i make sure i keep it right on top of all the crap in my pocket so i can quickly grab it lol. the rod was excellent during the fight. while it was pretty much doubled over for most of the fights , its did have backbone to bring em in. transition from the tip to the bottom 1/3 was butter smooth but slower than im used to. it is a light rod so horsing fish out of slop is a no-go, but if you can keep em away from that mess , youre golden. while i was 'high-sticking' the fish up over the drop off , the rod showed no strain or anything indicating it wouldnt make it. i did have my drag set a touch lighter than i usually do because i wasnt sure how it would handle , but it did fantastic. im sure smaller fish , panfish and trout would be a blast and a pleasure to fish for with this rod.

i want to replace that little trout image they got on the rod with a peacock bass ;D 8-) im using 20/6 fireline with 6# cxx leader.

todays outing.
went out today for a couple hours with the new fenwick in hopes to hook into something with some scrap....well i did. cast a weightless BPS cut tail to a rock right along the drop off. right away the line moves sideways. i set the hook and my line snaps. eh , my fault. no biggie. cast again to the same spot , same bait , different color. again , the line moves to the right a few seconds after it hit the water. i set the hook....my drag is screaming. i thought i hooked into a carp or a pretty good pea. shes heading straight to the deep , so im keeping the tip up to keep my line from getting chewed up on the steep drop off and shes still taking line like its her job. so we go back and fourth for at LEAST a minute. probably the longest fight ive ever had from a LM. i finally get her in... big. i immediately go for the tape measure and realize i left it home. so i snap the pic and quickly get her back in the water. she looked exhausted. took a little bit but she swam off fine. went around to the west side of the lake and was trying everything to get a peacock to bite but they wernt taking what i offered. i tied a 1/16oz finesse jig with a headless 4" lizard and hopped that up one side of drop off and got this one.. i left shortly after that. my arms were beat! the rod did fantastic. it has enough backbone to keep those fish up and out of the weedy mess on the bottom. it very comfortable to fish with. that handle is just fantastic. i was casting the weightless 4" cut tails into a 5-8mph wind without a problem.
