  1. The Energy is the '08 model (same one you'll buy anywhere). The price has been dropping so they can get rid of the "old" inventory.
  2. That's messed up! Sorry to hear that! I'm hoping he just borrowed it and didn't "borrow" it.
  3. Nice work Little Brother! I forgot to ask you, any pics???
  4. I've always been a lefty with my spinning gear. When I first started using baitbasters, I started off with righties. Now, depending on the application, I'll use left or right handed baitcasters.
  5. Well, I've been wanting a couple new rods for a while now. The end of last week, I pulled the trigger and did it! I bought two Quantum Energy PT's from Tackle Warehouse. It was my first time ordering anything from them (and I'll be ordering from them again!). Well, they showed up today. I bought a 7' MHF and a 7''6" HF. I can't wait to break them! Now I'm thinkin I need another one! LOL! Must......... resist!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
  6. Water temps below 50. 50 seems to be my magic number for success. Any water warmer than that, I'll have one (or two) tied on!
  7. Excellent point! A color change (or even the retrieve style or weight of the spinnerbait for a different position in the water column) will tell you exactly what they will commit to so they crush the bait, not just come up for a half hearted attempt.
  8. For me, I only fish a plastic trailer on my spinnerbaits when I'm fishing stained to muddy water and want to add more bulk to the bait. I'm usually adding a big, bulky grub when I do. As for the trailer hooks, I'm using one about 99% of the time on my spinnerbaits (always on buzzbaits). The cover I'm fishing has to be extremely thick for me not to use on. I perfer to have the trailer hook move freely, so I put the trailer hook on first and then put a small piece of the tubing on next.
  9. Picasso and Strike King (KVD model) are two of my go to spinnerbaits! The Picasso double willow painted blades in red shad and Strike King's bluegill color are the two colors I use most during the prespawn. White with black scale pattern would be another skirt color I'd add as well. The weight varies on the conditions but I'm usually throwing either 3/8 or 1/2oz.
  10. Sean, Thanks man, I am new to the area so yeah I would open to some advice, fishing opportunities as well. I make a good non-boater as well for some fishing tournaments. I guess we'll see, pm if you got some info !! PM sent.
  11. I can't wait! It'll be the first time in several years that I'll be going! Thankfully, I'll be hunting on some private property with one of my friends. And to be honest, if I don't kill one, I'll be perfectly happy as long as my friend does. He's never shot a spring gobbler and I'd like to change that for him!
  12. X2 on the KVD L&L! I've noticed that Elite has some memory in COLD temps and after treating my 14#, the memory issue was gone!
  13. Exactly! I'm confident you'll love it! I've been using Suffix Braid on my spinning rods for a couple years now and just switched up to braid on one of my flippin sticks too!
  14. Tear 'em up Adam! If memory serves me right, there's a couple of board members on here from down your way so you should be able to get some local advice! Keep us posted on how you do! Sean
  15. I'd say to be hitting the water temps as most of the southern guys are fishing right now, we need to be fishing warm water discharge areas! ;D Remember, Maryland is located is the NorthEast section too.
  16. Keep in mind, Quantum has 2 different Codes out: the Code and the Code Red. The Code: 8-Bearing drive system ACSII adjustable centrifugal cast control [info] One-piece, lightweight composite frame Ultralight MaxCast skeletal spool Titanium-nitride line guide Flippiin switch Continuous Anti-Reverse The Code Red: 10-Bearing drive system ACSII adjustable centrifugal cast control [info] One-piece, lightweight composite frame Ultralight MaxCast skeletal spool Titanium-nitride line guide Flippiin switch That's where the price difference comes into play. Hope that helps some.
  17. I love my Quantum reels (Accurists and Energy's mostly). I was curious about the code and checked it out when I was at BPS. I'm not a big fan of the Code, it just didn't feel good to me. Personally, I'd either follow backwoodbassfishin's advice and get a good used reel or save up and buy a Catalyst, Energy or a Tour. Last year's models are still available and are on sale, so there's another option as well.
  18. What makes you think they have changed? :-? For me, I've been using Quantum baitcasters since '97 and I have only had one issue with any of my Quantums which Reel Mech helped me figure out that I caused the failure due to neglect on my part. I haven't had any issues since. Maybe I've been lucky but they perform well for me.
  19. Hey, I told you what I'm planning on throwing on the one lake I fish! I can't wait to see the looks I get too! LOL
  20. One of my favorites! Chilliwack! ;D
  21. I've noticed the same thing with the Elite (in cold temps) and the KVD L&L helped out alot! I'm in the process swithcing over the Seige on most of my set ups. This is mostly because the stores around me only carry the Elite in the clear and I prefer the smoke green.
  22. Yeah man, you missed it! He even gave everyone that attended 3:16 swimbaits! ;D Joking of course.
  23. Lily pads, hydrilla and thick timber are the times I opt to peg.
  24. I picked up a spool myself yesterday so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Not much added info from their site but here's what they say. http://www.sufix.com/usa/fishing_line/deep_crankin/ I did a quick search on tackle tour but didn't find anything on there. I've been pleased with the results I've had with the other Suffix lines so I'm really anxious to give the Deep Crankin a shot too!
