  1. Great bait, like chucking these at dusk and through the night.
  2. Like XL while its fresh, takes a couple of weeks to start coiling on me.I'll respool it when it does.
  3. A beauty! Nice catch!
  4. Depending on the model, theres usually 3 washers/spacers(dark grey) which sit up under the spool on the shaft.Take 1 out, leave other 2 should go on nice and level for you,dab of grease.G/L
  5. Great pic Great fish,nice A-Jay.
  6. Have a Tour 300 that I still use.Been throwing this one for awhile, still find it quite comfy for it size.Like it for topwater prop baits, jitterbugs.
  7. Began the season with a new Saros, its a very good reel.Paired it to a Compre 6' 6" rod and felt great.Casts really well with no line slap, same on retrieve.Balance was just a tad in front of drag adjustment.Comes with a 6:01 ratio and picks up line very quickly(quickest I've ever had on a spinning reel)and evenly.Drag adjustment is smooth and finely tuned, took me a few fish to get used to it.Very, very slight wobble to it in hand(from handle)but not noticeable while fishing.Servicing the reel should be no more difficult than the baitcaster you just "mastered",piece of cake? : ).There is one spring in there where you switch the reel from forward/backward to just forward that likes to play hide n seek though.G/L
  8. Heres something that might help you out.Hope link works, not to comfuser savvy.http://bendingbranches.com/wave-hound.php
  9. Nice dmac14!,I use the Abu lubes on their reels.
  10. x2 with the E5 recommendation
  11. Hello Crestliner, not sure about putting it on a standard jighead,I would think that you'll loose most of the baits profile, could cause it to nose dive a bit to much too. Then again the finned freaks will hit anything some days?I found these for ya,maybe they're what your looking for:Falcon Lures Flipping Tube Jigheads comes in 1/8 - 3/4oz. and has a weedguard. I have the www.,not sure if its ok to put in here,I'll shoot you a PM if you need it.G/L down under!
  12. Agree with others, one thing I also check with the palomar is to make sure the two loops do not cross over each other like an "X",I'll retie if I get them crossed.
  13. Tune up.....my "S" benefited greatly from being serviced,I left it stock,no upgrades.Did use Abus' grease and oil.
  14. Hmmm....1st thing that came to mind would be brakes,2nd engage clutch, gasp spool w\thumb-forefinger should be no movement of spool (excess play would mean "shot" bearings and spool is rubbing frame).Hopefully someone better qualified can help more, good luck.
  15. For those that were following topic, the results were; Yes-20(58.8) No-14(41.2) Total votes-34 Thanks Again
  16. Thanks everyone for taking the pole.Do I need to post the results or can everyone see them(not sure how this works)? To the person that didn't understand Drag On-Drag Off,sorry my fault, first time doing this and didn't think the whole question would fit into the little boxes provided. J Flecho,I'll try to explain...I catch a fish in open water, fish b-lines it into some weeds, almost a standstill, when I do get to land fish there is a huge wad or ball of weeds wrapped around line/fish has to weight close to 3 maybe 5 pounds.I like to refer to these situations as "weed comets"can barely see the fish in there. This is where I'll back off the drag and what I meant by "saved my butt". Think this was a good pole for me,never had anyone actually teach me how to fish or use tackle properly, trying to show nephews good basics and techniques. You guys makes this board where I can actually use it,appreciate this big time. Thanks again
  17. Hi Folks, hope I'm in the right section for this, didn't want to muck up Catts' post. Roadwarrior brings up a technique of setting the drag before you catch the fish.I know about the setting of drag according to pound test,a 1/3 of rated test? But I actually use the fishes strength to determine where my drag is set at,usually one click plus or minus, sometimes more...depends?This has saved my butt more times than not.I will try his technique but was curious as to what works best for some of you others. Looked in the articles and couldn't find anything. Please post if theres something there and accept apoligies. Thanks
  18. I prefer front drag also,I have a tendency of putting my hand right in front of the reel but on the rod blank when I hook one with some shoulders.I can adjust the drag without looking at it and keep my eyes on my line.
  19. I hear ya about the whippy tips, spent awhile look'n around for stout tip myself.I have your reel on a Compre that feels pretty good,6'6"-3/16 to 5/8ths(CPS-X66MB).L'il easier on the pocket too.Tried some of the Croixs'-Avids,Premier and Triumphs, ended up liking the Compre more.
  20. WTG Red!,always nice to service your own tackle.Feels good zing'n it out there hearing it wind up,knowing its running like a top.Hey...and no extra parts!Nice touch man.
  21. Its good Bass Bro,you tell me when you get it down. Two afternoons showing my nephew and he got it....wants one now!As always on windy days(10-15mph head winds or higher)use to the wind to help the cast, don't fight it.I think down south they call it Kentucky windage, after awhile you'll know exactly how the wind will carry the bait precisely onto the target. Its a great reel,man...I hope you enjoy the heck out of it!Good Luck!
  22. I too will vote for Revo S,I like how easy it is to throw weightless plastics w/o hassles.Stick with the factory centrifical brake setting of 2 on-4 off.Very light "thumbing" needed.
  23. I still have and use the ones bigbaitfisher refers to,Lunker City- Hellgies, always seem to work for me on days when nothing else would.Either drifting or very slow trolling with a carolina rig 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 foot leader.Colors-brown cinnamon, black,or smoke.G/L
