How can the knot break after the breaking point of the line? Something fishy with the data here. I have seen a DVD of knot testing from Berkley's factory . The only knots tested that I can remember their ratings were Palomar, improved clinch, and Trilene. As I recall, the improved clinch failed at @ 75% of the line rating. The Palomar at @ 90%, and the Trilene at @ 95%. Can't remember how other knots fared.

Looks like Gizzard Shad to me. Their maximum length is 16". I don't really see a spot behind the gill, but everything else checks out.

Hey you guys in Florida- be glad you live where you can practically fish on every corner. I used to live there and really miss the fish nearly anywhere opportunities. Here in Arizona you have to drive 40 or more miles to get to any decent fishing waters.

I have nothing but good words for Penn too. I had an old Peer 209 that the tackle store guy dropped while respooling it with new line. The levelwind broke off and scooted across the store floor. The tackle shop sent it back to Penn to repair at their expense. Penn replaced the reel rather than repair it and did so at no charge! This reel was at least 15 years old! Now I call that unbeatable service!

Yes this is a very good point. Here in Phoenix a scuba diver diving near the wreckage of a submerged old dam on Lake Pleasant never surfaced from his dive with a party of other divers. This was several days ago. The sheriff's office called off the search for the body today. This family may never find their relative's body. This was an experienced diver too. Sad story.

In my boat, when the big motor is running, anyone on board is wearing their pfd. Period. I remove mine when anchored or running the trolling motor for comfort though.

True, I just find that BPS has a much larger inventory that Cabela's.

Gloves with a PVC coating will remain slick and won't remove the slime coat of the fish. Good luck holding on to the fish though.

The water is super clear. Mono or fluoro for line. I would go with 12 to 15 # test line. the stripers can be huge! Have fun and happy fishing.

I switched to LED lights a couple months ago. It took @ 90 minutes. Well worth it. the lights are MUCH brighter than the old bulb lighting. I ordered my lights from BPS. I used shrink tubing over the splices. Much neater looking.
