I've fished highly pressured waters for a long time. Afflicted with Arron Martens syndrome, I have never placed better than 2nd place. Were I in your scenario, I'd be jumping around.

Lost my cousin back in the late 80's. It was his 16th birthday and he was sitting in the back seat. His friend was in the front passengers seat and friends dad was driving. They were headed to an amusement park stopped waiting to make a left turn. A drunk, driving a cement truck, drove right over the car. On the flip side, my brother drives OTR. He was local on this particular run mid 90's and was driving inbound to Chicago and a drunk guy in a van driving outbound in the inbound lanes hit him head on. Drunk didn't make it. My brother just ended up with some bumps and bruises. His brand new tractor was totaled.

The larger subdivision ponds hold good fish. Getting access to them is not always a given.

Dad's arthritis is horrible. He buys lures to fish with but always fishes live bait. Doesn't other me, but it bothers him. I keep my mouth shut and life goes on. We fished beds in Sturgeon Bay 2 weeks ago. I told him where to cast, every cast he made. He was using live bait. He never stood up. I had polarized glasses on. I instructed him on every cast. Too close...too far...left....right...Didn't bother me. What really gets to me is the lack of emotion. Dad used to land every fish like it was bigger then the last. He had the same enthusiasm if it were a 9" bluegill or a 4lb smallie. It's gone. Mom will be put in her "cremation niche" after a memorial service, on July 18th. I'm hoping dad will have closure at that time.

Dad, my son, and myself have spent the last 20 fathers days on the boat. When he told me he no longer enjoyed fishing alone, it floored me. I'm sure it's because he hasn't been alone for 60 years. My sister and I have spent a great deal of time with him the last month. She's and her family are with him now at the summer home. I hope he gets through this ok. I've had him out fishing quite a bit since she passed and his excitement is gone. Almost like he is just going through the motions until it's his time to reunite with mom. It sucks

For those of you who don't know and care...or don't, dad lost his wife and I lost my mother a little over a month ago. Dad is 80 and having a rough go at it. Took him smallie fishing in Sturgeon Bay 2 weeks ago. Dad has a summer home up there. He's still up there shore fishing. Fathers Day he, myself and my son spend together every year fishing. I talked to him today. He no longer enjoys fishing alone and will return to Chicago this weekend to fish with myself and my son for Fathers Day. As the title says, cherish the moments. All the fish in the world won't replace what dad is going thru. Spending time with family will make it easier for him.

It's not necessarily off the market. I didn't sell it early enough this year to order a new boat. It will be relisted in September. It's still for sale, just not at this moment.

How many times I've been contacted by potential buyers of my boat since I took it off the market...

I was ready to take the clippers to my head. IL has been under a pretty strict covid shelter order since March. The state opened up 2 weeks ago for some businesses including barber shops/beauticians. The lady who cuts my hair had the virus. Got it from her husband who got it at work. She had to go thru a number of tests before the doctor would release her for work. I called her 2 weeks ago and she told me she hadn't got released yet. Today was her first day back. I moved to this neighborhood 18 years ago. She opened her business 18 years ago. She has cut my hair for 18 years.

Our country is in need of some serious reform, and it's not the reform being touted by the mainstream media

Got a haircut after 4 months.

We've seen videos of boats ramming other boats out of spite and land owners threatening boaters because they are fishing on "Their" property. I've had to deal with unhappy landowners who believe the water in front/behind of their property belongs to them. People can get irate and unfortunately we have no gauge as to what will push someone over the edge. I've been peppered with birdshot for getting too close to a duck blind. Do you launch/load in the dark? Why wouldn't someone carry, just in case? If I never have to brandish or fire my sidearm, I'm way ahead of the game. This is what I'm banking on but it's there if I need it.

It's all downhill from here.

1/2oz simple syrup(sugar water), 3/4oz lime juice, 2oz vodka. This was dads drink when he was in college. Dad is 80. I've never had one until this past week. We were up in Sturgeon Bay fishing, I cracked open a Miller Lite and he made himself a vodka gimlet. Thought I'd try one.
