Like JFrancho said, the issue with cover. Second, I'd catch more snot rockets than bass. If they work for you, by all means use them.

I use Northstar for 99% of my applications and a Buckeye mop jig in PB&J for the other 1% . As far as colors, I would start with 3. A black and blue, a brown, and a green pumpkin. You can fine tune your color secection once you get comfortable. Swimjigs are good in any situation but really stand out post spawn. The key to a swimjig is the trailer. I like paddletails and switch between a 3.5" and a 5" as needed. Again, 3 colors to start. Black and blue, white, and my go to is Bull Gill from Northstar.

I saw a guy on a Harley T-bone a car that turned left in front of him a couple years ago. They both tried to beat the light. The accident seemed to happen in slow motion and the biker flew around 30 feet and bounced off the pavement. I saw his face turn from flesh colored to blue as he was choking on his own blood. I went to turn the guy over on his stomach and was stopped by some other bystander who decided he was in charge of the accident scene until help arrived. He and another person got in between me and a woman, on our way to the biker, screaming don't move him, you're going to make things worse. I guess he must have learned that watching General Hospital or something. The ambulance arrived within a couple minutes. The guy didn't make it and for awhile I wondered if flipping him over could have helped.

The difference in octane ratings, I believe, depends on additives. Mercury recommends using 87 octane in my ProXS. There is no such thing as ethanol free fuel in northern IL. The ELPTO is the motor I had issues with and I used Seafoam every other fill up. Red Stabil during storage. I'm using Quicklean and Quickare in every tank of the ProXS

My general thinking says give them something that's a little different. Something that stands out from the pack whether it's color, or a different presentation like WRB mentioned. If you've ever watched any wildlife shows, you'll notice how animals will single out their prey based on some slightly different characteristic. Weakness, size, age, etc. Same thing happens in nightclubs between men and women. Same thing happens with bass. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Decent is a relative term. Check CL and boattrader. I'm sure you can find something in your price range. I'd recommend you have a mechanic check it out.

It took 8 years of regular use for the ethanol to eat thru my hoses and screw up the carb. I imagine occasional use wouldn't do much damage. They now manufacture a ethanol friendly fuel line and bulb. Might be worth the investment.

What deep thinkers men are... I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer. The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking. My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing and I said 'nothing'. The reason I said that instead of saying 'just thinking' is because she would have said 'about what'. At that point I would have to explain that men are deep thinkers about various topics which would lead to other questions. Finally I thought about an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the groin? Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the groin. Well, after another beer, and some heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with the answer to that question. Getting kicked in the groin is more painful than having a baby; and here is the reason for my conclusion. A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child." On the other hand, you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the groin." I rest my case.

A long narrower hull with a pad will ride on top of and cut thru waves better. There are different definitions/types of waves. A 2ft chop on a small lake is much easier to navigate WOT than 2ft rollers on the Great Lakes. Difference being the width between waves. Experience behind the helm is more important than which boat goes faster.

It's cute now. Just wait. My son and step daughter don't bring their girlfriends and boyfriends around me. I'm the dad who has no problem telling these kids(23 and 24) not to get pregnant among other things. I'm like the dad standing at the door with the shotgun especially with my step daughter. Cadman, Depends on the wind. I'm heading up Thursday evening and right now the weather report doesn't look too good. Sister Bay has a pretty good night time smallie bite and I'd like to hook into some kings as well. During the day, I'm probably going to be fishing the reefs outside of the ship canal. My son mentioned Washington Island, I'm not going to pay $40 for the ferry, so if I go, the forecast needs to be perfect. They don't call that section of water "Death's Door" for nothing. As far as the Dells, I'm going to probably give the lower Dells a shot. I'm familiar with the Upper Dells, but have never fished the lower. A guy on another site told me I'm good navigating from the rapids down to 1 1/2 miles south of Rivers Edge. I'm a little nervous about tearing up the boat and I'm debating buying an aluminum prop to throw on, instead of the SS, for the weekend. I have the Navionics card which has the HD mapping for that section of river.
