How Long Does A Bass Live Out Of Water ?
Catfish can live forever out of water. Kinda like Twinkies. Just keep their gills and skin from drying out they can live for hours.

Fishing Network Site Idea
Funny you say that. I keep hearing from my son, "It's time to get in the 21st century" Today, my boss, who is 20 years my senior, said the same thing. I posted a thread about pros and cons of smartphones last week and ended up getting a flip phone. I still have 2 weeks to change my mind

To Hot To Fish So Let's Smoke Some Meat
I have family in Austin and have spent some time there. Here are my observations 1. BBQ I think the bbq would be better if you added some meat to all the smoke. Best creamed corn I've ever had. And to eat it day in and day out... 2 Chili Can't say I've had Texas chili. Chicago Joes on Irving Park Rd is the shiznit for chili during our cold winters 3 Steak Who want to eat a 120oz steak anyway? I make my own 4 Mexican There's mexican and there's southwest. Chicago has the second largest population of mexicans outside of Los Angeles. We have all different types of mexican food (can't figure out how it's all made from the same stuff but all tastes different) from all the different areas of Mexico. That being said, I had one of the best breakfasts in a hole in the wall diner in Austin, but I would classify it as "southwest" As far as the pizza PM me your info. If we can figure out how to ship it, it's yours.

Caught (And Lost) First Muskie Today
But they do have pickerel. Same family, just don't get as big. I hate musky and pike. I only catch them during bass tourneys and they destroy every bass lure they hit. Funny, the musky guys say the same about bass. I've often thought about throwing musky baits for bass. Just don't really have the set-ups to make that happen. My home lake has musky in the 50" class and pike in the 40" class. They are fun to catch, I'd just rather not catch them.

Marker Buoys - How Do You Use Them?
I rarely use them, but when I do, I'll mark 2 sides of where I want to fish and cast inbetween.

Xmas Tree Structure. Won't Stand Up Straight
Make sure the ornaments are evenly distributed and to unplug the Christmas lights. Lots of times the cord gets tangled on the dock or other timber causing the tree to fall over. For a tree topper, I prefer a star over an angel. Angels aren't native to water and a star can resemble a starfish or crayfish. Also rather than using garland, thread popcorn onto a string. Works great attracting bait fish. Merry Christmas

Fishing Network Site Idea
I don't care too much for cheesehead reports either LOL. tipptruck, I frequent L-L once in awhile and have never been able to get pertinent information.Unless you're a regular poster, people won't even acknowledge you're there. To the OP good luck.I think people who rely on other peoples fishing reports to decide whether to go fishing or not, should just find something else to do. It may be a good idea for a beginner fisherman, but sites like BR and others are much more informative and actually help people catch fish. First off, no one is going to give up their honeyholes. Secondly, If I post a report I'm fishing on "Lake X",and killing them, doesn't mean tomorrow they'll be biting. Lastly, I'm from Chicago. Why would I care what someone is doing halfway across the country?...maybe I'm just old...I share reports with people I knowand people I trust aren't going to fish out bodies of water. Don't know about where you live but we have "Bucketheads" around here. They troll websites and bodies of water and keep everything they catch. Any fisherman with half a brain isn't going to risk that.

Where are all the Illinois Guys ?
Killed them on the Fox Chain yesterday. 84 degree water temps and bluebird skies. T rigged Rage Craws, Havoc Pit Boss, and Yum Dingers were the baits that worked although we did get a couple on the frog. All shallow. Boated maybe 30 fish. Afternoon bite was on fire. Find shade, find fish.

Summertime Blues
We killed them yesterday. 88 degrees and bluebird skies. This was a coldfront after 2 weeks of triple digit temps, 84 degree water temps fishing shallow. Less than 3fow Bite was steady from 5:30-9am, died from 9-noon, and exploded from noon til 2. The morning bite, fish were tight to shoreline structure for the most part. A couple frog bites fishing duckweed. The afternoon bite was simple. Find shade, find fish. Docks, trees, boat lifts, skipping under pontoon boats, anything shady held fish. Aside from the frog bite, everything was on t-rigged plastics. Couldn't get a jig bite and didn't even try to fish any type of fast moving bait. We tried fishing a spring fed creek that fed into the main river channel. Water was 10 degrees cooler NOTHING! Go figure.

Tools To Keep With Your Boat...

To Hot To Fish So Let's Smoke Some Meat
That's pretty much the rub recipie I use. I also marinate the pork in a spiced apple wine for a day, then the rub for a day, and will spray on the wine during smoking. Alder is my wood of choice, but I also like using maple.

Legend Boats
Legend sponsors Anglers Choice which is the trail I fish. The only negative thing I've heard about the boat is it's a little tippy when you have more than one angler fishing at the front of the boat. Otherwise you can rig the boat anyway you want. Pic your electronics, TM, any other accessories, whatever. Legend rigs the boat the way you want it.

Smartphones
Pro's? Con's? My current phone broke and I have a loaner. I have uscellular and won't be changing providers. I'm due for a phone. I'm in my mid 40's and have never had a smartphone. I'm not into all the FB and Twitter. I don't play video games. I have an Ipod. I can see a slight advantage using it for work related stuff but find it hard justifying the $25 bucks a month for internet service. They don't give you much selection anymore for the stupidphones. An upgraded version of my current phone will cost more to purchase than a smartphone. Can anyone help me justify the extra $300 a year? Anything else I'm missing as far as these phones?

Happy Independence Day !
Seemed like the only people who knew what it was, was the older crowd. My ol' ladies daughter was too concerned with getting a pic of her and her boyfriend,to post on FB, when the show was over her comment was "That was it"

Happy Independence Day !
Ribs on the smoker and just got back from an awsome fireworks show. Aside from the music they played along with the fireworks, they also played a recorded version of the Gettysburg Address and the finale was to the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Pretty cool. Happy 4th everybody.
