Daiwa Aggrest.
id say e7 for a new reel in that price range but if you wait you could get a zillion on TW black friday sale for around that too. just make sure you do a search in google shopping make sure you get the best deal TW will match most prices out their so you can get some pretty good deals sometimes. good luck, hard to chose zillion is defiantly more substantial feeling, but compared to the e7 performance is about the same. bolth good choices though.

re-wraping a rod
yah i watched the video's on mudhole they were very helpful. next question is does any one know a good type of electric motor to part up a rod dryer rack. i was thinking a cheep drill with a speed adjustment. and will probably make the rack part of it myself. any pics of drying racks other than the expensive ones i fuguerd i could make on quite easy with some lumber and small casters ...etc.. thanks guys john

re-wraping a rod
i want to start to get into rod building but dont want to spend the money on a new blank so i figuerd i would take some of my junk old rods laying around and re do the guides on them just to get some practice.i want to make sure i do it right so i wont have problems when i get a good blank. so do you just use heat to melt the epoxy on the old guides. what do you use to clean up the area that the guide was previously on ... other than epoxy, and wrap what else do i need to practice putting guides on . also what kind of rest do you need to use to put the rod on when wraping. thanks john

In the long run you will be much happier, also keep in mind that you can get diawa fuego's for near 100 in the flea market. Buy a reel from a reel maker not a NASCAR naton wal-mart.

Fluorocarbon line issues...
Just do straight braid, and in gin clear water use I floro leader. The sensitivity well makes up for the visibility issues. Plus it's super managable.
-
Topwater line
braid for topwater, only way to set the hook on those long cast's with spooks.
