  1. Like others have said frogs, but most importantly do not use Fluorocarbon if you do not want to re-tie often! You need to constantly retie, Note after catching a fish definately because bass teeth can really shred Fluoro.
  2. Do people still buy bass fishing stuff from BPS? With Tackle Warehouse there is little need for anyone else.
  3. You can get a Curado 200e with a 7.0.1 ratio on ebay for around 150. For a rod get a Falcon Lowrider XG for 140. The 7ft H or 6'10'' H will be good for jigs/worms/frogs/spinnerbaits.
  4. I am just joking with you. What I find funny is I know some hunters in Northern California and they rarely wear camo anytime, but on the east coast everyone wears camo everywhere,! It is like a badge of honor.
  5. Playing with in the store and fishing them are two different things man. I suggest you barrow someones and test it on the water. I think you will be a bit more suprised.. The only rod you will see in his hands is a dobyns. Dobyns are much better than carrot sticks. Zillions are much better than carrot sticks. Crucials are much better than carrot sticks. Daiwa light and toughs are better rods for less money than a carrot stick. I have seen 30 dollar rods with same guides as a carrot stick. But I don't think that matters that much. I have used a carrot stick as an all purpose rod with 80lb braid for month without any guide problems.
  6. I do anything that will catch me the largest bass possible. Even if it would involve a cane pole. This guy isn't thinking outside the box. He doesn't even have to cast the big baits if he doesn't want to. He can deadstick swimbaits and troll them! Also he could stitch big 10-15 inch worms on light 6-8 lb test flourocarbon line with a 7ft medium spinning rod. You need to tell this guy there are options where he doesn't need to sight fish or even cast much. All the techniques I listed require very, very little casting.
  7. Some funny responses on here! ;D "Uncle" Homer is an old coot. A lot of his respones are either outdated or just crazy. I hope he doesnt get a pay check for those answers!
  8. Lots of rods are mis-rated, I have been let down before just like you have been. But you should buy a Castaway rod, they make a great stick and are heavier than they are rated. If you want a flipping stick meant for Florida get the 7'6 XH castaway.
  9. It will cast fine, put a large heavy wire(gamakatsu superline or Monsterhook) EWG hook and you will be able to cast good distances.
  10. Hmmmm... has a strong program at Memphis, has great recruiting power, in conference USA where his team is almost guaranteed a trip to the big dance every year if he keeps up his great recruiting. Sooo what would I pick :
  11. He probably does not care about the anti-fishing and anti- hunters, he is only thinking about himself(which is not truly a bad thing) and being able to support himself and his family. Although he is not hanging a dead deer out on the fence, do you think he doesn't consider that fuel to the anti-hunting/fishing fire just pest control? I think he has them hanging from the fence posts because he already has posts up and can just hang them up without any extra work of putting in something else to hang them from. Also you hanging dead carp is not the same thing, are you protecting your job hanging those fish up? I assume the farmer is with the coyotes.
  12. For 200 bucks there are better choices for a little more money i.e. Zillion or dobyns rods. But for 40% off I don't that can be beat!
  13. A lot of rods that have split grips are tip heavy i.e. carrot stick ltx. Just goes with the territory, putting weight on the end like the carrot stick weight port system is a great way to take care of tip heavy rods!
  14. Yeah that is a big lake. No harm done. Also a big smallmouth replica mounts cost quite a bit! Amazing fish!
  15. I think you just really dislike polls for some reason.
  16. Nice fish! Doesn't have to be crawfish. I have seen this in bass in places where there are no crawfish.

  18. Looks like a fancy version of the Mann crankbait called the Thin Man. It was a great bait when it was still available. Good for fishing rocks and wood.
  19. I do not know about GA, Fl or SC but a majority of NC's big bass are caught in private ponds. People would not want to give up a big fish from their private fishing spot.
  20. I am doing a comparison this year. I suspect this may be true for me also, I have to see how this plays out. For now my choice has been EWG, but I noticed , at the end of last year that I was fishing a bit more with the old school worm hooks. I have to see was it because I was using them more, or if compared to EWG, using them both the same if there is a difference in hook ups. When using fluorocarbon I saw my hookups increase from the switch from EWG to straight shank. But I found if I switched to braid the hook up ratios were the same. So I switched back to EWG hooks and put braid on all of my rods.
  21. Oh even better, I thought he sold out back to back nights. Never knew about the other one.
