  1. Almost two years ago I was encouraged by my wife to buy something to store my tackle. 😀
  2. My wife and I took a half day guided trip on the North River a few years ago. It was a ton of fun. David Ward was the guide and did great even though conditions were tough. We were staying in Corolla so the drive was 45+ minutes(if I'm remembering correctly) but worth the time. We caught fish with the biggest being 4+ which my wife caught. Go figure. I personally thought it was well worth the money. I have fished the Chowan also and had an absolute blast. I have a trip planned in March. We started that day in the Roanoke River but decided to head to the Chowan. The trip across the sound is tricky and you should watch the wind. I wouldn't suggest that trip if you're not experienced with the area. I was in a boat with a guy that knows that water well. We never got above 25 in the sound. That water gets big because of the wind. We did have a great time but in March we'll launch near Edenton right on the Chowan. Think frog fishing, flipping Cypress, stumps, and whatever looks fishy. lol...everything looks fishy. Stay on the move. Lastly, navigation can be tricky. Stay alert.
  3. I'm not sure as the first was from his granddaddy and one from tge kid directly.
  4. I might as well piggyback on this existing topic. I have tried several times to post a picture. I get and error message. It's not too big, it's a different error message. Edit: for some reason the photo wouldn't load when I saved his picture from a text. He sent another and now it's working..
  5. Welcome!
  6. The agony of defeat. He did his best to smile.
  7. Many years ago when I tried a V&M creature bait. I changed companies several times before settling on the Deep Creek Lures Wise Whacker. Besides the dead of Winter I have a creature bait tied on.

  12. For as long as I remembered I was a people person. When I got married to my first wife I was still that guy, at least for a while. Towards the end of the marriage and for 4 years after the divorce I was definitely not that guy. I let few new people inside my world and actually never let them in fully. I simply did not trust. I found solace in a bottle. I never drank when I had my kiddos but when they weren't around, I stayed buzzed/drunk a lot. Fast forward to 2012. I met a nice woman that overlooked my every flaw and she got glimpses of a very happy and sober individual. I began to like people again, let my gaurd down some and began to enjoy life again. She always believed in me. I married her in 2014. I never thought I would get married again. A few things that happened since. I had two strokes, I retired, and we took care of my brother through is cancer battles. The last battle he had was terminal. I was the primary care giver and while there were several challenges I was so blessed to care for him. If you're short on patience this will change that. Today life is grand! Every other Saturday we watch two children that were born addicted to heroin. They are non-verbal, special needs, and are a handful at times. But they remind me of how good my life is. I often wonder what they're thinking. The little things that excite them, their station in life because their mother was an addict; but through it all they live in their world that I know next to nothing about and for the most part appear happy. This long post is to say this: the blessings each of us have should be front and center. There will always be tough times but choosing to see the good and learn to put the past in perspective is paramount. Learn from it, and be a blessing to others. In turn you will be a blessing to yourself. I like people......
  13. One of the many old school Rebel tackle boxes!
  14. Google experts. It amazes me that because they read it on Google it's 100% truth. I usually ignore them but the one's that argue, parse words, proclaim themselves experts at everything, irritate me.
  15. @A-Jay, Happy Birthday buddy!
  16. Welcome back!
  17. I have fished pretty steady since February. It has been a great year for numbers but the bigs have eluded me. I'm OK with that as I've concentrated on the small jaws since April. I've become proficient with a drop shot, I'm learning the lake in more detail, and most of all I can catch fish in the back seat even when the guy upfront is doing the FFS deal. To be fair the guy upfront is positioning so we both can cast. It has been a weird Summer in that we're catching Smallmouth incredibly shallow at night. We have found them to be all over bluff walls, rock, and on more than a few occasions everywhere on points. Creature baits are my number one producer with an 8" plasic eel being a very close second. The drop shot is #3 but usually fished in the lighter hours. I quit counting at 100 so I have no idea how many I've caught but those 2-3 lb Smallmouth are a blast! Here's few pictures, not anything earth shattering but fun nonetheless. There's a few largemouth pics. for fun.
