Recommendation for a jig rod for jigs this size...
For jigs I mainly use two rods. One, like stated above, is a 7' 2" H/F og Tatula. Absolutely love this rod in light to moderate cover or docks with fluoro. The next one is a Dobyns Champion XP 735. This one is labeled MH/XF but performs like a true heavy fast imo. Great in the heavier stuff with braid.

Water Temperature and Topwater Baits
Just throw it! You'll find out pretty quick if it's working or not.

Paint job is spot-on!

How big should I go?
IMO, something in the 19ft with a 200hp range is the best of both worlds.

2 questions, lures left in lip and catch and release
It'll be just fine I think. I caught one with a crankbait pinned to it's upper and lower lips and it still managed to take my plastic worm.

Jackall Gantarel Rigging
Some add a drop shot weight to the chin for bed fishing. Gives it that nose down appearance.

Swimbaits on a Budget, do I even bother?
Check out Savage gear and live Target. Awesome swimbaits on a budget.

Best deep diving crankbait reel in your opinion?

Advice for shallow water angler moving out to the deep stuff
I am in the exact same situation myself. I've always been a shallow water angler here in South Florida. The biggest thing I've found you need is learning to interpret your electronics. A Carolina rig has also been very helpful in finding fish.

Suicide Glide vs. Bull Shad
They are two completely different baits. One's a glide bait and the other a swimming bait. I own a few bullshads and they are very productive in the right situations. I don't own any of the suicide glides but I know Triton Mike's customer service is top notch with the bullshad.

How many carry while out fishing in the boat.
In the boat, never.... Bank fishing, always my Glock 20 10mm at my side.

Advice on Bear Protection - NY
Here in S FL I run into black bears, coyotes and even the occasional panther. I've never had an issue with them but just in case I carry my Glock 20 10mm with jhp rounds.

Path to becoming a better fisherman
You obviously have never flipped/punched heavy cover. And those random companies are their sponsors. So of course they're going to push their products. It's a pretty regular thing in the sport.

Excalibur Spittin’ Image
The spittin image is a really good top water bait. I have some of them along with the bill dance swimmin image.

Shimano tranx, swimbait combo help
I was about to say exactly what Dwight did. A lob cast with more of a sweeping motion rather than a whipping one works great.

Fall! First Bait Thrown
This fall I'm going to try bigger swimbaits more too.

How often do you have a false hookset?
At least one every trip out while flipping or punching.

Finally going to try Rage Baits
A little late to the party ain't ya buddy, lol. My favorite is the rage craw. Like Francho said, extremely versatile. The rage toad is a close second for me as well.

Waiting on FedEx support thread
I hate all 3 of the big carriers equally! Way too many bad experiences with all of them.

Kindness Still Exists
Really nice to see there's good people left. I am blessed with way too much stuff so I always give gear away to locals I encounter that don't have much. Funny story, one of my sons friends at school loves to fish. Him and his dad are from a rough neighborhood and he told my son they can't afford tackle. On top of that his old Shakespeare reel had broken. I told my son to ask him what they liked to use most. The little guy actually put together a wish list, lol. Me and my son put together this HUGE package for them. At least 10lbs of soft plastics alone. Cranks, frogs, hooks, weights, spinner baits and even a like new Daiwa excellor reel. Well, I happen to have left a couple specific things of the list that I just didn't have. The little boy takes the stuff and looks all through it and noticed the missing items and tells my son they're no longer friends until he brings him the rest of the stuff he asked for! My son was kind of heart broken because he doesn't yet understand the world(he cried). I thought it was pretty funny myself that a young kid thinks that way so early on.

Lew’s parent company buys Strike King
These kind of things happen all the time guys. If the quality of either does eventually drop, just buy something else. That's the beauty of being free, we can choose to buy from whatever manufacturer we want.
