  1. Any reel can be used for this really. But a high speed gear ratio and a solid drag are important for sure! I have found no better for the task than the Revo STX!
  2. PLEASE................NO MORE WEIGHT ?!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Should have got the Spro BBZ-1 Shad man! Way better action imo.
  4. Screw the glasses.............your getting a Revo STX for $120(after rebate) just be happy!
  5. I have a Black Max and for the $ it is awesome! It casts a mile, is smooth and strong! Very good reel, especially when you can have it on line for around $40!
  6. Hey Dink, When you say "deep", what depth is deep? I ask because of your location. Believe it or not we have some deep lakes here, LOL! I have fished from 15ft all the way to 38ft and deeper sometimes. The deepest parts i found are in phosphate pits. I much prefer shallow cover/slop anyways though!
  7. My best fish this year have all come from fishing cover(pads, hydrilla, grass etc). I have not had much luck deep unless the area has a significant amount of cover. With so many people unable to catch any fish at all right now you should be glad you still can! Ever thought that maybe you should just catch them in the pads and be happy you have a reliable bite!?!
  8. The new FireLine Braid hands down
  9. I have had good luck with mine so far! Only new trolling motor.
  10. They both have their place and time i think! The Spook is a more aggressive lure that calls them from a ways out! The sammy is a more subtle bait! I use the spooks in the summer and the sammy in the fall mostly!
  11. I flip/pitch a lot of cover in harsh winds and there is no way a hand controlled tm would cut it for me!
  12. what was it that they sacrificed? Bearings, drag, strength, smoothness
  13. The ones i fish go from shallow to deep with slow tapers on bot ends. In the summer mornings i usually put the boat parallel to the point and cast shallow. When that bite disappears i will turn around, move out and cast deeper. Long pauses followed by violent jerks seem to be the key when it gets HOT here in FL!
  14. ...and pee on your shoes!!!! You have far greater problems if you pee on your shoes man, LOL!!!!!!!!!
  15. Soft or hard baits? I use flukes through thick grass and pads all summer! I use the hard jerk baits along weed lines, docks and on points all summer as well!!!
  16. I think they sacrificed way too much to make the Premier lighter! The difference is not enough to justify choosing it over the STX. It is a weak reel in comparison!!!
  17. For the $ the Curado but if you have $ to blow than the Zillion!
  18. Drop shot, Carolina rig, T-Rig, spinner bait or a big jig
  19. Congrats to you sir! Very nice Fish!!!!!!!
  20. I apologize Mr. ArcticCat500! It was someone else i was thinking of, LOL! For the price of the STX right now it should not even be an issue really!!!
  21. There should not really be much slack man! At least not when i fish a frog. Whether it is a Rage Tail or a Spro i always keep my tip down.
  22. He speaks the truth guys! I LOVED my Caras but ended up selling them mainly because of this! A H/F is like a MH/Mod F to me.
