Depends on if you're talking a "long tail" or a "beaver tail". A long tail is like what @TnRiver46 is running. A beaver tail has a shorter "tail". The long tail takes a special talent to operate while the beaver tail handles more like an outboard. Beaver tails are 100× more popular down here, especially the ones with a reverse option. I don't know if you've priced them yet but I paid right at 6k for a 40hp Tohatsu & that was 2-4k less than a surface drive.

I've had major sinus issues for years, many colognes, perfumes, & after shaves instantly lock my sinuses. I don't wear cologne but I do use Stetson after shave but a very small amount.

Rod sock? ROTFLMAO Kids bought me rod socks & reel covers, they're in a pile in my closet. We have no off season so it's a constant cycle of cleaning, re-stringing, retying, ect. When I return home everything is property cleaned. Right now there's 2 setups & my attack bag in the corner by the front door. Carolann knows I'm subject to bail at any time!

Think of it this way Structure attracts em, cover tells you where they're at.

Exactly ? The sweet spot on structure is usually going to be a hard spot. A hard spot is exactly that, clay, shell, gravel, rock. Nothing grows on it so it's bare. Bass will hold around the bare spot & annihilate anything that enters it.

The only time I worry about alligators is when I'm bank fishing. Guys on this site talk about being quiet when approaching the waters edge not to scare the fish. No sir! I am gonna be whistling Dixie & shuffling my feet. In a boat I generally see em before they see me. To me the little are more of a problem than bigger ones. They will come out of nowhere & absolutely destroy any lure.

Still use em ? I don't know how well y'all know your body of water but if I see your boat on Toledo Bend I know exactly what you're fishing.
