  1. Not always ? Think about punching, when that ounce/ounce-n-half weight crashes through the mat it's a total reaction strike. Many anglers myself included will say during cold water periods slow down by going with lighter weights. Down here flipping-n-pitching a 3/4 oz jig during winter months & in shallow water can be extremely deadly.
  2. One of the biggest misconception anglers have regarding a Texas Rig is that it has to be fished slow. I seldom drag a worm, preferring to hop it, short stroke it, or what ever y'all wanna call it. Flipping-n-pitching are other techniques that can be fished faster. Don't fall into the trap of many that think weightless or the lightest weight you can get away with. R.O.F. Rate of Fall is the key to Texas Rigs or Jig-n-Craws. As for the spinning reel...roll with it!
  3. Hey Tom Awhile back you offered me a shot at your tackle, remember what I told you? I don't want your tackle, I want you knowledge! Don't feel pressured, heal up, we'll wait.
  4. Nahh! I don't have "secret" lures, I throw lures y'all overlook.

  6. The key is to know when to slow down & when to speed up. It's like Rate Of Fall, sometimes they want it slow & sometimes they want it fast.
  7. Guess I'll have to find me a carbon fiber rod to go with my carbon fiber reel.
  8. Movement without movement ? I want to impart action (movement) to my lure without actually moving it forward.
  9. Like many others Pearl Harbor convinced my Dad & his 3 brothers to enlist.
  10. The original Hemphill Hill Gang Tommy Martin, Larry Nixon, Harold Allen, John Torian and Jon Hall. Larry Nixon was the first angler to reach $1,000,000 in career earnings. I learned a thing or two about worm fishing from Mr. Nixon.
  11. Carbon Fiber is a polymer & is sometimes known as graphite fiber. Not all carbon fiber composites are made by reinforcing plastic.

  13. Of the 5 people in the house 3 are girls, 2 are boys. The girls spend most of their time indoors. The boys spent most of their time outdoors. The girls caught it, the guys didn't...just saying!

  15. Local grown honey ? I did end up with a sinus infection, something I've dealt with since the 70s when I lived in Houston & breathed all the clean air.
  16. 5 people in our house 2 have upper respiratory infections with strep throat & my wife has a severe sinus infection. Pretty sure I'm catching one of em. Y'all pray for my grandson Aiden he was walking around behind his older sister with a little wooden cross & a can of Lysol spray saying, get behind thee Satin! I think she's gonna kill him!
  17. 17 years in the Aerospace Industry as a Manufacturing Engineer. It ain't plastic About 90% of the carbon fibers produced are made from polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The remaining 10% are made from rayon or petroleum pitch.
  18. Watch videos of KVD He casts with either hand but all his reels are right handed. Many of the Pros do the same
