Thought it was about acclimation? There was a time when I worked construction, i would get off at 3, drove 2 hrs to the lake, fished until 4:30, drove back to the job, work all day, & then go home.

Mosquitoes aren't a issue on Toledo Bend, there is however some little gray bugs. Don't know what they're actually called but they will swarm you by the thousands. When you running at night with a q-beam...don't smile!

Exactly what I do ? Until I establish where they're holding & then i move up to pitching-n-flipping distance. It's the same with grass, brush, timber, or structure. Oh! By the way I do the same with a Jig-n-Craw

Don't worry about it ? If breaking off is required, I break it off & continue fishing. Sometimes it ruins a spot, sometimes it doesn't. Down here it ain't if ya gonna hangup, it's how often, & how solid. It's part of fishing, accept it & move on.

I replaced my "guide" bunks with one's that are 5'-6' long & adjusted them to about 1" clearance between the boat & the board. For a visual reference when backing I leave my rear boat seat on the pedestal & the back in the up position.
